im getting ready to upgrade my fuel system but am looking for some input/pointers when building a fuel system.

My plan is to run E85 (current fuel system is completely stock) and hoping to be in the 400-450hp range.

I was considering the FIC-1650cc High Z injectors with the resistor pack plug delete. i don't want to buy too big of an injector, but I also don't want to buy something to only have to buy bigger injectors again. also still trying to figure out how much of a difference and what to choose between the High-Z and Low-Z injectors and what would be best for this build.

to go along with that I figure I should replace the fuel rail and notice that those have a -6AN or a -8AN fitting. with a new fuel pressure regulator too. is there much of a difference between those two choices? will the -6AN restrict too much fuel flow? I also would like to fun all new fuel line and fittings front to back, what's the best way to go about that? buying in bulk with the fittings I need?

then that brings me to the next piece I need... the fuel pump.
ive been told that the Walbro 255 with a rewire should be perfect for what I need, then I cam across the 450. Is the 255 good enough for what I want to do with E85? or should I consider the 450?

now for the E85 part, whats the opinion on inline Ethanol Content Analyzer with a gauge readout? worth it? or are there better options to keep an eye on e85 mixes? I do plan on driving this from late spring to early fall in Minnesota but don't want to ruin anything with having poor ethanol content and not knowing it.

im still trying to pull my own while building this car but any input is appreciated.

got my big brake kit installed with out too much of a mess made! (working in a body shop really helps me with space and having all of my tools right there for me to use instead of having to bring them home, and a really nice air compressor) I also have new rear calipers, rotors and pads for the rears (since they are seized)

after putting the wheels back on I drove it around the parking lot to see how much of a difference they made! whelp.... its got a super squishy pedal. (yes I bled them super well too :/ ) so now im trying to find an alternative to the brake booster and master cylinder. ive heard hat you can use a 3G eclipse booster and master to help with this. (being that I went to a single piston to a 4 piston brake setup technically adding 6 more pistons to push! makes sense now. any insight on that would be helpful!

You can do the 3g master/booster, I run it on my 92 with outlander brakes, works great.
You do have to alter the brake lines some as they have different mating surfaces and port locations, so reflaring and bending needs to be done.

It's a tight fit on a 1g, but bolts right up. There is a difference in the abs and non-abs versions of the booster, pertaining to how it interacts with the pedal pushrod.

I recently took my nasty crusty headlights out and refinished them, they look AMAZING (check out my photos)

some of the perks of working in a body shop!

sanded the lenses flat with 800 grit sand paper on a D.A palm sander
while I was there I masked off the lenses and sprayed the rest of the housing black to get rid of the faded grayish tan
cleaned them with glass cleaner then gave them to my painter to spray them with clear coat, the UV coating in the clear will keep them looking FRESH for a long time
I also plan to put some 3M stone guard/clear bra/clear shield to help prevent more stones/sand form blasting my refreshed headlights!

I have just about everything I need to start getting the motor together!
im thinking this fall I will pull the motor out and bring it up to MAPerformance and have them put together their stage2 short bloc, updated timing, balance shaft delete, and and have the cyl head gone through and upgrade a few things!

I recently purchased...

full fuel kit (lines(tank to rail), regulator, inline filter, FIC fuel rail, FIC 1200 High Z injectors, adjustable regulator, and a WB255 with a rewire kit to run E85)
fuel pump hanger (in way better shape than the one on my car) and -6an fitting to replace the outlet
Manley valve Springs and Titanium retainers
Torque Solutions Engine Mounts
New CVs
New Lower control arms
Poly Bushings for subframe, Trailing arms, and lower control arms
Oil Cooler
Valve cover with -10am fittings welded on and gaskets
Catch Can
EGR Delete
some gaskets, studs, and nuts for the exhaust manifold
exhaust manifold heat shield

any other recommendations on what else ill need?

now I just need to figure out what gauges I need/want and where I want to put them.
im trying to find a quality (not so stupid expensive) Ethanol Content sensor and gauge to have too... Any suggestions?
ive heard lots of good and bad with both innovative and AEM for a wideband set up.. any other input on that?
im also waiting for my new rear calipers to show up, I got one with out the bracket so I just need the other one and the brackets so hopefully that wont take too much longer.

I did end up don't the 3g brake Booster and Master upgrade and it is AMAZING. I love the stiff feel of the pedal and the stopping power I have now!
I was a super easy instillation process from start to finish! I would very much recommend that to anybody with big brakes!

My talon has been my daily almost all summer and now with the heat we have been having I went back to driving my A3 (because the ac works) and im super not impressed with the stopping power of the stock brakes in it :/
just another reason to love the talon being a fun enjoyable car to me!

I'm currently using this sensor and it has worked perfect.

I don't know why you would need the gauge if you're running ecmlink. Maybe you aren't? I run the innovate and haven't really had any problems with it. It just needs to be hooked up exactly like the instructions say and nothing less. It will be less of a headache than the AEM....but not by much.

I want the gauge and sensor because here in MN I know our E85 blends change a ton and I dont want to wreck shit! Spring to summer to fall. Just to keep an eye on what is actually going in my tank. Thanks for the input!

Not much difference between E85 and E50. Tunes will work the same, and your knock sensor will take care of too much timing. I have the FlexFuel sensor from GM and I can monitor the Flex mix but I never have to change the tune if it isn't up to E85 standards UNLESS I have to run dino fuel (gas) which I try not to do anymore because the car loves E and runs so much better on it. My 02¢ :thumb:
Love the car, looks like my 92.....:)
