2G Coolant in Oil

So i was finally able to start my 2g after two years. Time hasn’t been on my side to work on the car. Rebuilt fresh Head and Bottom End. The head and bottom end were done at a machine shop resurfaced. ARP stud were used and tq to spec. Multi layer Headgasket was used.

Yesterday i added coolant, to let the car run it’s first heat cycle.

I noticed coolant on the floor. I did my checks looked for leaks from the radiator and filling neck. I noticed the leak was coming from the tranny side of the motor. My guess a freeze plug leak. (Still have not varied that leak)

I then checked my oil and saw coolant. So as of right now i have coolant in my oil.

I will conduct a coolant pressure test to see what can be the issue.

Anything I should look for?
 
You're on the right track, might have to pull the year and check for any marring on the sealing surfaces. If not that, might be a crack somewhere.
Are you running a coolant donut oil cooler? It's possible that may be bad too.

No I’m not running that oil cooler. I’m running B&M oil cooler mounter in the front.

The crack wouldn’t that have been found at the machine shop if there was?
 
Trans side coolant leak could be heater core. Thermostat coolant lines. Even radiator hoses. OR one of the turbo coolant lines as well.

Upload a picture of how much coolant and oil is mixed.

If you need to do a video as well, make an album on your facebook public labeled DSM. And drop that link. The size cap on here is frustrating sometimes.

Could also drop some UV dye in to trace the leak.

If the properly magnafluxed it, it should have been found, but things get missed occasionally.

I have no coolant lines running into the TB. I checked all the lines from the thermostat going into the heater core.

Most of the coolant was in the engine when i drained it was about half a gallon of coolant with oil from oil pain. When i get home I’ll post.
 
Ever put a head gasket on backwards?
I no they will fit but don't know what happens other than some ports are exposed or dont match. Who did the final assembly?
 
Shouldnt be causing mixture if the head gasket was backwards somehow, might see overheating or odd temp cycles from the restriction ports being on the wrong end/side.

The more I think about it, the more it seems that it has to be a flaw in the gasket/surface, or a crack somewhere.
It's possible that the turbo is to blame, but same story: it'd have to be cracked or worn through somewhere, or have lines hooked up wrong...

I ended up removing the head. The head gasket looks brand new and all the entire block had coolant. When i removed the head I did notice 2 of the arp studs were loose not the bolts. Bolts were TQ down n i needed a breaker bar to loosen them. Could the two loose studs cause the head to lift n create a leak?

How can the turbo create this problem? It has two line an in and an out for cooling.

The issue may only present itself if the block is warm and the crack opens up from heat. If it held 22psi steady for 1 min, then I'd say it's less likely it's cracked.

The turbo could only do this if it we're cracked or somehow the water jacket were worn through, or the coolant lines were somehow installed on the wrong ports, which is nigh impossible.

inspect that gasket and the cylinders very carefully, and the cylinder head as well for cracks or leak traces.

The studs being loose could definitely be a cause, they need to be finger tight in the block, also make sure all the crap is out of the stud holes/threads so they can seat properly, otherwise you will be torquing the nut against the stud shaft and could ruin them, while also causing a lack of clamping on the head.
