Can a precision 1g converter be had for a 6 bolt/1g trans and yes I know there's a kit from Kiggly and JB Design but i don't want to convert to 2g trans as I have 2 1g trans and 1 is freshly built.

I've ran into some threads from a long time ago where people have used precision converters without a kit/1g trans or before such kit even existed...can a 2g converter possibly work in a 1g trans if perhaps the lockup clutch passages are blocked off and input shaft/oil pump swapped?

Even if I wanted a precision converter I see one has to go thru JB Design and he's not answering his facebook...

im pretty sure jeff has a kit for a converter for the 1g trans. other than that youd have to find someone that has an old one as precision no longer makes them for the 1g trans directly through them.

And the bolt pattern is a 1/4 inch larger IIRC on a 2g converter so if it WOULD work you still might need a Kiggly FP. What converter do you run @OH91awd ?

I'm kind of leaning in the sinister direction now. I've only heard good things about them even if they don't have the fancy billet bits.

Id consider a jeff bush designs 1g convertor, he has them on the shelf. Sinister has a very long wait time currently...... last time I checked anyway. My spoolinator failed in 2 months and had to pay 400 to have it fixed so

Mine also failed in less than 3,000 miles and had to pay the same amount to get it repaired.

OP- Do yourself a favor and get a JB converter if you can't find the Precision.

What exactly is failing or what are the symptoms when these Sinister are breaking?

I am wondering too.......

My stator failed which is the only aluminum piece in there. It started to eat itself so I had aluminum shaving sent through the trans.

I since then swapped to the Precision spragless converter.

Sinister told me it can happen with higher horsepower cars with the added stress/pressure on the aluminum stator. You can do the option of going spragless which is said to add more heat. I have been running the spragless PI on the street and don't have any issues with heat but I also run two transmission coolers.

Leaves us 1g guys in a pickle then, huh?
@amsrn13, do you have any clue as to what a JB unit goes for? Is that what you have went to for your purposes?

Does Jeff Bush have a site ? I haven't found any for him, I've checked his Facebook page but can't seem to find anything on his products.

I believe you have to message him, kinda odd for someone running really good parts, he'd sell alot more if he had an actual site. But whatever works for him

Nice I was more interested in reading up on the kit first just to get an idea of what it's all about. I probably won't be swapping converters till next year after I get to that point.

Well never mind w4a33.com has a great article about his kit. When I change converters that's the route I'll be going. I'd rather not gamble on the sinister seems like the first time you have an issue your right to the price of a j Bush unit.

I messaged him 5 days ago on FB and waiting patiently... Bradco is giving me the same treatment... Great products / great guys who won't take my $$$

What about the 300m 1/2" longer intermediate shaft? I thought it leaks without it?

Mine does have a small transmission leak from that seal which the JB intermediate shaft is said to fix. It is such a small leak that I haven't convinced myself to pony up the $400 to buy the shaft, it's on the list haha

Is it a #6?

I don't know what "#" it is, I called up precision and told them I wanted a 4,400 stall without using nitrous and they built it. Just give them a call, they will go over everything with you on the phone.
