going to try to get this put in this wekend as long as the weather cooperates. should have my t case brace today or tomorrow to get put on there as well. im also looking into a driveshaft loop for the car as well.

the jb designs transfer case brace showed up over the weekend. cant wait to get this installed on the car. jeff actually messaged me and gave me a few tip on how to install this once i go to get it on.

going to have them cleared with some good quality clear coat next.

went on vacation last week and finally got a chance to get the rear subframe back up in the car. now to get everything else buttoned back up.

i also took some time to pull the cover off the other diff and to be honest, what i saw wasnt quite what i was expecting after seeing the amount of metal and hearing the noise it was making. honestly looks like water made its way into the housing somehow though. the gear teeth all looked really good but id need to get some marking compound and check the mesh and that to be sure. other than that im kinda stumped.

might send it out and have it looked over and just keep it as a spare.

another small update:

with winter coming up we are planning on finally getting my cage put in. i had bought some competition engineering swingout bars to put in the make the car a little more street friendly but i honestly wasnt too thrilled with the look of them so i decided to change things up a little bit.

swingouts.jpeg
bought these units from rhodes race cars. these are their elite series swingout bar kits. these will look so much better than the other set.

yesterday i finally got some more time to start finishing up the rear end reinstall some. ran into a snag with the rear calipers. had my fiance bring home the piston compressor tool last night from work to get those knocked out.

gonna try to get the calipers compressed and put on tonight when i get off work. then throw wheels back on and drop it down. i think its definitely going to need an alignment before i do much of anything else with the car since i didnt have a good way to measure out the old arms to get proper length. its close but imo not close enough. next thing i need to do is get my transfer case brace on and order my driveshaft loop as well. i dont think itll see the track this year so the plan is to get everything installed and ready for next spring.

and its back on all 4's! gotta throw the seats back in and its definitely going to need an alignment to get the rear camber fixed but its all back together.

gonna put some miles on it this weekend i think though. i miss driving this damn thing. waiting on my masfab driveshaft loop so i can put it and my brace on.

got this in last night. maston fabrications driveshaft loop.

i keep going back an d forth on getting a set. he was talking about modding the control arms once he does the tubular rear subframs and id hate to buy the kit just to get cut right back off.

not much of an update but gave the ole girl a bath yesterday and took it for a little drive. car seems to ride much better with the lower arms on now. totally forgot how quick this damn car is LOL.

so i got a call from my tuner/buddy that had been parting out his old auto car wanting to know if i wanted a spare trans. i knew the condition of it and after coming to a hell of a deal i picked it up. not sure what route i really want to take with it just yet. the only thing it needs is front clutches. the trans is stone stock at the current moment. not sure if i want to do the basic upgrades to it or slowly start putting the high dollar stuff in it.

Hey OH91, just joined the forum a little while ago and just read thru your whole build. Love the look of the car and the direction you are going with it! I'm looking to eventually get my car to the 10 second range. I may pick your brain about a few thing is the future.

not much of an update. waiting for the ground back to my buddys garage to dry up so i can get it back there to finally get the car tore apart so we can get the cage in. i did however put some more miles on the car yesterday running a few errands while i was off work. then stopped to visit the fiance at work and snapped this pic of our cars together. we are going to be 4g swapping her car once i get my other motor done for the talon.

more soon to come.

So finally got around to taking the car apart and getting things ready for the cage. Decided to test fit the main hoop in the car. The only issue I had was that since I’m so tall (6’2”) and having the main hoop far enough back where it needs to be according to nhra rules I’ve had to trim some of the bottom b pillar trim in the car.

Trying to decide if I’m going to trim the top side as well where it’s pushing in slightly.

More pics soon to come. Hopefully after this cold weather passes

well.... ran into a snag with some measuring for the front a pillar bars. not sure is kens accidently cut them too short or they didnt take into account where the main hoop might end up based on driver but with where my main hoop needs to be they are about 4-6" too short and would end up sitting in front of the dash. im trying to get ahold of them to see what the issue is on this.

Accounting for door swings? Or are you referring to the top overhead bars?
the over head bars. talked to kens and it looks like they were cut too short. he gave me the option to pay for shipping on a new set but im not sure if i want to dso that at this point and any other possible issues arise.

That's a bummer, hopefully they can refund you some if you decide to make your own bars?
there wasnt any talk of a refund. i ordered this in march. i was honestly surprised he offered to send me another set out. just dont want to pay to ship these and they be wrong also.
