Hello,

I currently have a South Bend SS/TZ kit which has served me well enough but I have had minor issues with slipping after back to back drag passes or in my later autox runs if the field is small and the delays between runs is minimal.

To add to this, my car made 264 ft/lbs on the current setup, but I will be moving to E85 and a twin scroll HX35 setup this winter. I am unsure where that setup will put me, but similar setups have made in the mid 400s torque.

The car is first and foremost an autocross vehicle. But will be taken to the drag strip more than a few times. Not looking to set records but the car will see mid to high 1.7 60' times in a full weight car. This car is also street driven.

Given these parameters, what is the best route for me to be sure the clutch isn't a limiting factor? Can I get away with the SS pressure plate and simply move to a different disc (the full face ceramic seems to be highly recommended)? Will an SS-X be required? Is there any special consideration I should make for autocross as a part of my clutch material selection?

Thanks,
Kevin

@twicks69 would be the perfect guy to talk to. As he is a SouthBend vendor

You could simply go to a full ceramic B series disk. Likely will meet all your needs then.

I would use the SS-X pressure plate with the full face Kevlar disk.

Ya I was thinking I may need to step up to the SS-X. I was initially scared away due to the clamp load increasing pedal feel more than desirable. But my recent research seems to indicate that the pedal feel isn't much of a concern even on the heavier plate.

Thank you sir. Order placed.

Appreciate the responses guys.

I'll get it taken care of when i return from vacation in a week!

The SSX pressure plate is extremely light pedal feel in comparison to other brand pressure plates, no worries with it.

I have several customers with SS pressure plates and B series full ceramic disks in the 450-500whp range for street and limited track usage. For heavier track use I would go with the pressure plate upgrade to the SSX version.

Sure no rush! There is a foot of snow on the ground so I'm in no hurry.

OK if that is the case I'll go with the SS-X. If the trans is coming out I might as well do it all.

Thanks,
Kevin
