So how much does all this sound deadening weigh in a 2G AWD 98 Talon? 13.9 lbs.

It a PITA to remove, takes several hours just to remove it, plus the time to remove the entire int and put it back. It makes the car "tinny" as all get out, it doesn't make your faster, and it gets a lot warmer during long drives. I did it one time to one of my cars....then I put it back in. If you are running 7.XX and need every last ounce of something to help you win something, then pull it, other than that....meh leave it.

I was thinking about removing all the sound deadening material in my 1g as well. How stubborn is that stuff to remove? From your experience, what is the best tool for the job... any tricks? Or just arduous work?

I used a HF heat gun on a low setting and an angled metal scraper. The residue came off with brake cleaner. Whole thing prob took a few hours. It's just time consuming.
