The SmartShift 100.1 allows for higher line pressures also. All programmable from the laptop. Hadn't heard it mentioned but it is a very good upgrade.

When you install the shift kit just max out the line pressure adjustment. If you run a manual shift setup(ratchet shifter) you can just max out the reduce pressure adjustment as it does not do anything without the TCU. If you do run the TCU, as you increase the line pressure, you are suppose to increase the reduce pressure adjustment for shifts. Kiggly states it should be set to a minimum of line pressure divided by 2.35.

Kiggly talks about it here:

Since I just went through this I figured id chime in. First thing your going to want to consider is getting yourself a restalled torque converter. I would normally recommend sinister mike but mine has been nothing but trouble. You can check out ipt of message jeff bush. From what Ive read the shift kit is #1 for better shifting and overall longevity. The kits are cheap or you can buy a core fron ipt. The next obvious step is the clutch packs. I started with your standard 6 disk kit and moved up to the billet unit. All that aside from talking to kiggly and jeff bush if your somewhat serious about building a strong tranny billet transfer gears are a must. If you plan to launch the car these tend to be a ticking time bomb. If they go...9/10 times your case goes with them. They are relatively inexpensive imo. The forced four box is amaZing and wouldnt leave home without it. Cooling is another huge thing, I shoulda listed that in the front. Extreme psi offers a nice kit to get you started. I also purchased a jeff bush oil pan, its around 350 shipped with new filter and bolts. I think thats it? If u need any help message me .... when

I miss driving my car...... My spoolinator has been out for a month. Mike is transferring over his business, I wouldn't recommend them anymore. You can have a billet precision unit for way less trouble

Man I hate to hear that but glad information is out that service is not up to par for the rest of us, so thanks for that. You can't hurry perfection, but you're on your way! I follow your progress and hope my auto car will be like yours some day, but until then, the "Sleeper" will continue to haunt my local streets, terrorizing Muscle....and my son's auto DSM LOL. I have to get her back together this winter, waiting on my head for the 4th month..... :/

that sucks to hear. i guess if i have any issues with my sinister i might just have to lean towards a jb unit.

For what i have paid already i could of had a jeff bush precision unit. Billet mind u.... not a factory pos. Jeffs a great guy
i only bought my sinister because that was the best option i had when i ordered. then a few months later jeff came out with the precision units LOL

Mike was great to work with in my setup. I did have my sprag go but was traced back to the fluid I was using and the lack of friction modifiers. He is transferring his business but yet the company continues to work as it did before, quick responses and good product.

I was using a quality synthetic fluid. 6 months of non launching abuse and it broke. Little disappointed

What size lines are you guys running to the trans? I have a ton of 6AN black nylon lines and fittings. Basically what I have in the car now but the lines are rubber. I replaced the stock straight outlet fittings with 6AN 90° but I have 8AN adapters that fit into the trans as well but I’ll need to piece the rest of the lines together.

As for upgrading my “stock” trans was:
Mobile1 synthetic @73k (when I bought it)
OEM METAL filter (cheapo units are plastic)
Trans lab shift kit
IPT end clutch kit
AEM trans temp gauge
Solid poly mounts (not the inserts for F&R) I do think motor mounts help the trans shift
Kiggly 6 bolt flex plate and adapter kit
Stock relocated trans cooler but I’m not going to purchase a new one until I figure out line sizes.

6an will be plenty enough. That’s what I’m running for my cooler

Alot of people recommended John Deer Hygard? I think I was running standard redline atf.
Alot of people still recommend spraying head gaskets, etc etc but its just not good in practice, I have yet to see anyone have a failure due to using atf+4 fluid which by the way is full synthetic, there is nothing to be gained by using anything else and everything to lose, people running fully custom built transmissions might well run power steering fluid or hydraulic oil in their transmissions because they CAN but I wouldnt even so, on the other side most guys in here are using a modified stock transmission that still requires atf+4.

Yea I am not saying yours was not an early failure. I had a year on mine with track days and it was running great. I swapped out my fluid for some supposedly "better racing fluid" and the converter went out in less than 100 miles. If I didn't already have a PI converter sitting around, I would have swapped the Sinister back in when I received it back from Mike.

Sinister has a lot of converters out there that have a lot of miles on them including cars that race every weekend. I feel we may have had that low percentage of converters that failed early and so happens we are both active on the forums to talk about it haha

Interesting bit of info.... from the man himself
