Nice! New parts! Out of curiosity though, since you actually race your car, why not go with a suspension setup that has a coaxial upper spring hat?
I dont think he knew it never came with it. We are trying to sort it out and see if something works out and can make it have a radial and spherical upper mount,

I'm sorry I thought this was Jesse's build journal...
Let's try again.
Hey GSXitement (not Bobby), have you ever used any other kind of suspension for your race car for your time trials?

The KSports I have in the car now never had the coaxial mount. And every suspension I looked at besides the DG setup doesn't have them. So when I opened the box and saw they didn't have them, I reached out to Bobby for advice. He's been a huge help in getting the cars setup dialed in. I appreciate everything he does for these cars to make them get through corners well. So, I'm looking into getting the conical mounts asap.

Feal 441, JIC FLT-A2, AMR and DG style Konis (like you mentioned) are the ones I've been looking/comparing. I used to have some old Tein Super Streets on my old GSX. (Never competed in that car like you do.)
But I could shift the weight in a fun and dramatic under steering pig manner.
I appreciate your response! Just shooting the breeze with you is all.

The setup on the car, I actually went to heavier Swift springs cause the KSport springs rotted and were junk at that point. I went with 16K front and 14K rear with this setup. I emailed KSport about putting the coaxial mounts on. We'll see what they say.

So, just got done sending emails back and forth with KSport. They said the shock should only be moving up and down. I guess we're gonna be re-engineering some stuff. No biggie. We'll make it better than what it is. And then show them. Lol

Got the coilovers in yesterday. Did a little experiment. I have video but it's too big to load on here. But I did take some pics. Working on ways to make the suspension better. Lowered the car an inch. Didn't align the car as I was beat by the time we got it done. Definitely should be interesting next season.

Yes. You read that right. Next season.

The last race for us is Lime Rock on October 6th. That's a week before my wife's due with our first baby. So, after some discussion, we decided against going to LRP. There's no chance to get the championship. So it'd be better to be home just in case baby comes early.

So that's the season. I'm happy that it seems that when the car cooperates, we win. So hopefully next season we can straight out and return to this.

Not too many updates. Cleaned the garage up a bit. Got the car in there. Since we're not going back out till next season, I figured I'll put the old girl in the garage so she can spend winter in somewhat warmth/covered. Still going to get a new car cover, wash/detail the car really well. Got some issues/upgrades to work out over winter, so I'll take a look at that stuff in between diaper changes LOL. But for now....pics.

Random question because ive got some old Ksports like yours with one being "blown". Have you ever rebuilt yours? Maybe I missed a post L O L

Well.....I thought I was done for the season. But my wife was gracious enough to let me get to the track one last time this weekend. So on Friday, I loaded up the car and brought it over to my old job to align it. We set the car pretty much the same as before. Except with the added camber from lowering the car on the KSports. It really blows my mind how much camber Bobby's arms can give you. So we dialed in -4.5° front and -1.5 in the rear with the toe set to 0° front and rear. The car is still on the trailer so on Saturday morning I can just head over to the garage, hook up and go. I went into the advanced group (blue group) since I'm decently quick there, and it offers much less traffic. The goal is to go a sub 1 minute lap. I went 1:01.6 there last fall, so fairly certain with the new setup in the car, the slicks and some added seat time that it shouldn't be a real issue. Really excited.

Results from Lime Rock were ok. Went out and found out quickly the spring rates are way heavier than the previous setup, which would induce some bouncing out of the corners which would delay my ability to get back to full throttle. Then, the oil feed line for the turbo leaned up on the turbine housing, which melted through the DEI heat barrier and subsequently the oil feed line. Started spraying oil all over. Actually really lucky it didn't start a fire. But that ended our day. Improved our personal best to a 1.01:3. Not the sub 1 that I wanted, and with for track time, I'm confident we would've gotten there. Still, came home 2nd so not a terrible day. NOW we put the car away LOL.

Congrats man, Still a solid finish for not putting in a full day! I had a similar event happen earlier this year when my boost wastegate vacuum line melted through... glad your turbo didn't fry itself!

Wow. That sucks. I think the seal I put in last month is leaking. Gonna have to redo it this winter.

Spendin too much time on the family and look what happens! Second place! :) Congrats

Thank you!! I can't believe I'm a dad! Ouch! Words hurt LOL. Gonna work on the reliability. We seem to have cured the major issue of the turbo coming loose. Now it's just working on stupid things. That oil line was my own fault. Should've had it routed better.

Congrats on the birth of your son! As a father of a 5 and 6 year old Im familiar with the feeling.

You have a great and very detailed thread, thanks for sharing. Do you ever run TT with nasa ne?

Hey guys! Not really an update on the car since it's in the garage sleeping. But! A little update on life! Here's my son!! Ethan! He was born yesterday, 10-22-18 at 3:05pm. I'm over the moon. Never comprehended the emotion of seeing him for the first time. He's everything. Mom's doing great!!View attachment 553562 View attachment 553564
There goes the car budget ROFL.

Congrats to you and the Mrs! I've got three of my own.. that feeling of seeing, holding, and hearing them for the first time can't even be described.
