Anyone know the part number or where to buy a new gasket for the stock HLA Oil Diverter?

I've searched numerous sites and while I've been able to find the p/n for the diverter itself (MD167599), I've had zero luck finding a new gasket. I have a hard time believing the gasket isn't available on it's own... and if that's the case I'm going to just shell out the cash for a Kiggly unit..

If I'm not mistaken this should be a machined surface and require no gasket. Someone else may need to confirm but I know on my car with factory HLA pressure regulator it has no gasket. Just two machined surfaces.

I think you guys may be confused on what I'm looking for...

I disassembled the oil diverter in order to thoroughly clean it out as I have no history of the motor and the rest of the block and head needed a lot of cleaning. There is a paper gasket between the two halves of the diverter, I need that gasket. I know the Kiggly unit does not use a gasket there, but the OEM diverter does.

Sorry for not being more specific.

Here is an old thread from another site that discusses the HLA regulator and if it has a gasket or not.
https://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-212007.html

As stated, I'm not looking for a gasket for the diverter to head mating surface, I'm well aware one doesn't exist. However, if you remove the diverter and disassemble it, there is a paper gasket between the two halves. Per an old Jafro video (cylinder head 109

), this gasket is the "least used gasket in the cylinder head kit" and that unless the diverter was leaking you should just leave it assembled while cleaning it. As previously stated, I had no history of the motor and the rest of the head and block were pretty gummed up, so I took it apart to clean it (which I'm glad I did). Now I need to source a replacement gasket, and I can't find a part number anywhere. If it was included as part of a kit, it has to be available individually as well.

Any way to make your own from gasket material? I have had good luck with FelPro rolls of gasket material and sorry about the link. I'm sorry, I thought they were talking about the gasket in the regulator not the mounting surface.

No worries, I should have been more specific when I posted originally. I could probably make my own as a last resort, but I may also just say ''hell with it" and go with the Kiggly unit. Only real holdup on that choice is the cost difference... ~$20 vs $150... Lol.

That's an expensive choice to make but a lot of us run the Kiggly unit to keep oil in the pan.

Not to derail my own thread, but if I went with the Kiggly unit do you think I'd have issues with high oil pressure due to the balance shaft delete? After replacing EVERY seal in the motor, I don't want high oil pressure blowing any of them out.

When we delete the BS, they are controlled oil bleeds for the shaft journal, basically, so when we block them off, they no longer bleed so the oil wants to keep traveling with the extra pressure. We don't want all of our oil up top, so the Kiggly unit will control the oil pressure better for the head. I know without BS's, my motor see's 80#'s, but it isn't collecting in the head, partially because of the Kiggly regulator. I also deburred the oil return holes to get the oil back in the pan asap.

My wallet disagree's with all my car parts........and I have 3 DSM's....:banghead:

If you think that ones tough, try buying anything other than a factory thermostat housing to head gasket, there is none even listed unless you buy an entire head gasket kit which makes no sense on such an often removed part, Felpro lists it in the head gasket kit but not by itself?

You are right, I make a lot of my own and once I have a good gasket, I trace it for a couple more on my gasket material. BOV gaskets, J-pipe gaskets, Throttle Body Gaskets, thermostat gaskets, turbo oil drain are a few that I have templates of currently and they work as good or better than what I buy. I use Felpro #3157 Rubber-Fiber Sheet, sissors and a hole punch. If I had any failures with it I would tell you, but so far, it has worked great on all of those so I am not waiting on 1 gasket to come in. :thumb:

Edit, it would be too thick for the OP's needs tho. It isn't paper thin like he needs.

Considering a new OEM HLA complete is $65 this may be a situation where you have to evaluate your time and effort. Obviously you've already committed. To cleaning and

I was about to pull the thermostat housing off the car on my 1g. Thanks for the heads up. I think I'll leave it on haha.

Post up a picture of it if you find one Vegas.

If you dont have a shelf setup for atleast 1 more dsm youre not doing it right haha.

My last dsm was built from spare parts I had acquired through several other project dsms. You know aborted project cars and engines and you negotiate extra parts into the deal. It's like hoarding except more expensive

I have more than 1 shelf, LOL
