Yo..

I posted a video of a cold start up on the GSX. It shows how much "feathering" of the throttle I need to do for it to idle correctly.

The car had sat three days prior to this startup. No IAC/ FIAV, on SD with ECUFLASH on my 99 blackbox ECU.

Peace!

Figured I would take some pics of the interior.

I would really like to spend some time doing a full DEEP detail on the interior. That can wait until this winter I suppose.

Anyway, here are the pics.

And an engine bay pic with the new VC lines on.

Also I've been trying to upload to YouTube to save some videos of the eclipse.

Here is a short engine bay walkaround.

Peace!

Brady!

Question, how and where did you route the wires for your gauges and hide them? If it’s here on the build thread just tell me what page it’s on and I’ll look it up.

Car looks amazing and I’m glad to see you still kicking! :D

Check post #235! I join the power/ground wires at the actual gauge pod so I only run one power and ground to under the dash. I also de-loom all the AEM harnesses because they are super thick and not very flexible.

I just run them down right below the a-pillar and they pop out down by the fusebox under the dash.

And thanks for the kind words!

Sweet. I need to do the same thing. Your car is always so clean I need to emulate you. LOL.

Also, how difficult was it to learn the basics of flashing the h8 ecu? So far it’s just like “WTF” to me. Lol.

:cry:I wish you lived in Chicago!! LOL I had so many questions!! your build is coming out SO NICE!

It was pretty difficult to be honest. Theres just zero support anymore so you have to do a LOT of digging. I also used a Mac so I had to use a program to get windows on my computer so it was an added difficulty.

Hit up Scott Abele on facebook (COXABLE) I believe is his username on here. He stepped me through it!

Thanks!! Feel free to ask any questions, I'll do my best to answer them!

Alright I'm about to stop driving the DSM for a while. Tiny oil leak on timing side has gotten worse. Also oil underneath the intake manifold on the CAS side. Water pipe/neck also leaks a small bit.

I have never been able to be leak free with this thing. I'm going to pull insurance on it for the time being. Need to tear apart the timing side, also take off all the coolant items.

SO annoying... very frustrating. No matter what I do I just cannot stop leaks.

Leaks are the devil. Easy does it man, keep up the good work your car is insanely clean!

Yeah I'm just starting to think I need a new front case or something because no matter how much I clean, copper spray, rtv bolts etc I always have leaks haha. I just would rather clean it up and have it rest for the winter than drive it with a small leak that could f*** something up.

Cleaned the car, getting ready for winter storage. Its nice being able to detail the bay easily and quickly. I never used to be able to since I was dailying the car. Now I can clean it and it will stay clean since I don't have to drive in the rain!

Pic time!

Plans for this winter:

New fuel rail
New Radiator (undecided if I want polished or Black coated etc)
New Rad hoses
Maybe switch to a 1g Water outlet setup..
New blue Gates timing belt
New Cam Gears
Finish polishing my wheels!

Thats about it!

Peace!

I had oil drip leaks for ages too, always from the timing side, and now i am leak free! It actually stopped leaking when i replaced a few new seals, i think it might have been my fault anyway as they was already new seals LOL, but once i installed them correctly they do their job and stopped anything getting out.

So just take your time, install it right and get no twists or seal folding out and all will be good again, promise it will be leak free one day

I've never had a problem with oil leaks on a dsm, and I've owned some sh** ones. The secret is to keep your balance shafts so you're not pushing 120 psi oil pressure on a cold start through cold rubber seals

But race car mods beget race car problems

I 100% agree with this. I've never had a leak with balance shafts and I've always had a small leak on the timing side without them. I've decided to just live with the balance shafts and press my luck.

Although usually your tearing a stock engine apart and rebuilding it so no telling what issues one may cause when removing balance shafts to cause the oil leak.

I’ve never had issues with leaks without my BS. OEM gaskets, tiny dab of Mitsubond in the problem corners, and never...EVER using a roloc disk to clean surfaces. Razor blade and some elbow grease only.

That’s just me though. *shrugs*

Wuddup.

Just wanted to give an update on what I've been up to with the Eclipse.

I've been paranoid about all of the parts that are discontinued. It makes me furious that the parts that degrade over time are discontinued.

Why the f*** would all the parts that simply degrade over time be discontinued???

I've been searching EVERYWHERE for these discontinued parts, and I have found some in some strange places.

Parts i've been looking for in every corner of the world:

-Fog covers (these get gray and brittle after time)
-Fog covers (RS version with blockoffs for fogs)
-Wiper Cowl (I actually bought a brand new one from a member for $$$ three years or so ago, but would like to have a spare)
-Lower window molding, part that scrapes the window. (right side is still available)
-Upper drip rails (I have found a brand new left side only available and have it held for me)

I did purchase an avenger OEM upper drip rail brand new. I'm going to see if it can be modified to fit the curve of the 2g.

I have entertained the idea of somehow remanufacturing the drip rails. They are overmolded metal, meaning metal was in a mold, with rubber injected around it. I've been thinking that I could create a mold of some sort and remake them. We will see.

Here is a picture explaining how the drip rails are made. Rubber is molded around a metal frame. note the large "tail" of rubber at the top. This is something you cannot easily achieve by "spraying" the bare metal drip rails with anything.

The fog light covers also are something I've thought about getting re-made. 3d printed maybe with vapor polishing. They are just ABS.

I already have an OEM GSX emblem in the rear I bought from JNZ many years ago, but the front mitsu diamond emblem is still available as well as the rear "mitsubishi" decal.

I took out all of my original documents from when the car was bought to take a picture. I think this is everything, even has the original purchaser card and everything.

And here is a pic of the car in its resting space. I think I'm going to get one of those nice fitted covers for it. Idk yet.

I’m super interested in those fog light deletes. Do you have a picture of them? I found the stock covers for the holes beside the fogs but didn’t know about the fog delete plates. Now I want a set. I don’t care if they’re gray as ash. LOL

The part numbers for both the left and right side “cover air intakes” btw are mr248233 (drivers side) and mr248234(passenger). My goal is to completely shutter off all holes with OEM parts. :)

This is the one I had to buy because they were all discontinued. I bought this 2 years ago I believe, I had to dremel out the blockoffs since I run fogs.

Yeah I thought about those air intake blockoffs too. Idk If I will run with them though.
