Haven’t posted in a while since ive been building the gst so i could have a dsm to move around while i built this one. But i decided to go with an auto trans. A buddy of mine just bought a 2gb auto gsx and im trying to get all my manual parts together so we can do an even trade and i can swap my parts i to his and his into mine. Don’t get me wrong i love manual gsx’s but ive never owned an auto and well i want it to go fast and relax. And yes ive done an auto to manual swap already on a gst im sure a gsx is the same. Well gotta go to sleep since im working right now. Lol

Bought a hallman pro BC for $45

Opened it up do to seeing play on the crank and it has full arp hardware, Ross pistons with manley rods. But bearings are toasted so is crank. Good thing i have a spare crank lying around now its become an actual built. Head looks good valves look great even though pistons have hits from were the valves hit. Engine was recently fully rebuilt but i think they didn’t know WTF they were doing they f***ed up this engine poor dude money went down the drain.

So i started to clean the auto transmission since i already switched my buddys auto gsx to a manual. Looks like factory he loves his gsx now. Its a 99 gsx vicious lsd. And in return i got all the auto stuff even harness so im set!

Hate seeing the transmission on the floor so i mounted it in the car. And a small crappy photoshoot for you guys. Im missing alot of details a lot! But since i have little time on my hands i try to atleast post some stuff. I know its halfassed kinda like the engine i got LOL but lets see how it turns out.

This is what caused most of the issues. He built the whole motor but left one thing out he added a f***ing spacer yes a spacer!!! To the tensioner instead or purchasing a new one. Are you serious!

Head has 3g lifters. Everything looks to be good cams are from a n/t. Whats the gain on that?

And this is where the valves hit the pistons, all 4 pistons. Due to jumping time cause of a bad tensioner.

Like common even the head gasket was brand new man. And again i bought this complete engine for $200 not knowing the condition it was in. Supposedly it was a running engine. And the last pic is what it looked before tearing it apart. There was milkshake on the pan. He overheated the block.
And this rod bolts were the ones that were loose too. So almost all of them were not even torqued to speck.

I mean it's a dsm, so never trust any build without the builder there when you test drive the car.

Auto is the way to go. The electronic torque converter Is outstanding. The feeling of launching into boost and pulling through every gear, literally can't beat it. I can brake boost the 14b through the strength of the calipers into a full smoky burn out at full boost, or rocket ship it into 5 psi off the line to keep traction LOL add in AWD and it's a rocket on rails

Good luck on your build keep up the hard work

Thanks man!

It was an engine that was sitting on the ground of his place for a while. He said it was just cranking and it wouldn’t start. But oh well it turned out to be a built engine. Not the right way. But most of those parts are still usable wich i am going to reuse. And yeah i figured ive owned awd 5speed. And this time i read on autos so i wanted to give it a try since my buddy had an auto and bought some manual stuff and wanted me to do an auto to manual convertion on his. So i did and in return i kept all the auto so win win!

Finally i never went to pick this up from my buddy. A 3g shifter assembly so i can use the shiftronic with the auto trans and a shift box.

And a 3g brake booster with master. Here is the comparison on both the right smaller one is the stock 2g left is the stock 3g

Block almost assembled. Got new acl bearing juat to know one of the rods is bad. When i tried to tighten it to torque spec. It got loose and had play. My buddy said the rod might have been installed wrong the first time causing it to walk or watever. So just ordered a new one f*** it. See if that fixes the problem if not i guess its either going to be the crank or bearings.

Working on multiple projects so its going slow. But cant wait till the engine is complete all new everything!

Nice work on the build! It would be a lot easiest way to drop that motor in would be to have it attached to the transmission and drop them both in. Dropping in just the motor is going to be a pain with the flexplate clearance.

Yes i know. Im going to take the transmission out and lay it on the ground then hook them both up and install together. I just didn’t like the transmission being on the floor thats why i bolted it to the car LOL.

And waiting on water pump to get here so i can do timing and see if i can bolt it up to the transmission.

I hope that is just a picture of the finished motor your timing belt is way to loose on your cam gears. Please fix that otherwise great build keep going I enjoy both of your build threads.
