Hey guys! I’m working on my tube front and am looking for ideas on the lower portion. Ive welded in the bar half way to mount to the end of the stock north south bar, but now I’m wondering if I ahould have beought in in signifigantly closer to the front roll stop and just welded a solid mount to it, also to allow for more mounting room up front. Heres where I’m at so far. Also did a bolt in chute mount I dont mind cutting the bar out if someone has a better idea.
Post up pix of yours if you got it!

I tried to post good pics so You can see how everything fit on mine. I have a 4 inch intercooler and I would say my hoop for the north/south bar is further forward then yours and my stuff all fits nice still.

I'd love to build a tubular front end to replace the rusted lower radiator support. Kyle, if you only lived closer.

Anyone else? I’m doing another on a customers. But here is mine. And the red one is going for something a little different. I moved my bar back quite a bit to make more room up front by about 4” and cut the frame at a 45* angle

Is there any concern when building a tube front end of loosing chassis rigidity? I know the drag guys don't need to worry but what about for road race? I at least wanted to do the upper and make it detachable so I could get easier access for service.

imo it should help with chassis rigidity. youre in theory putting stronger material (chromoly tube) in place of the factory metal. you can also make tie in points to strengthen that tube as well and its still going to be connecting the frame rails back together like it needs to be.

Yes, it's a concern that needs to be taken into account when designing changes. The upper structure plays very little role in rigidity between the left and right frame rails so do what you want there.

Thanks, appreciate your input. I'll stick with a detachable upper section as that gives me the access I need but without messing with structural integrity.

I though for sure I had already added mine to this thread. I wanted mine to appear stock and chose to keep the top bar and make it removable.

@b00st3d ...

Forgive my confusion, but what are these two bars for? Only thing I could think of is hood pins? But that didn't really make sense either.

LOL, they are for my hood latches.

They were cut down to the proper height when I installed the latches.

What’s up everyone. I was wondering What diameter and thickness tubing do y’all use for the lower and also the upper tubing on the 2G chassis. Been wanting to get a mild setup on mine due to some rust near the hood latch and also lower radiator support rusting. But figured would help free up space for the modifications I’m looking to fit in the limited space the 2G’a have with out cutting away too much… for now.
