I have installed Evo 8/9 on my rear brakes and noticed the caliper seats far away from the rotor. This means the pistons will have to extend by 1/2 inch before making contact with the rotor.

Is this normal or my after market rotor are thinner than stock?
I thought the rear caliper were bolt-on affair...

Please advise...

Calipers are not just bolt on with out the rotors to go with them!! Surely you searched this as there are many many threads listing this info here!

Evo 8/9 rotors are thicker and vented. Es tu problemo.

If you need a set, I not only have the used set off my race car (I went to Girodisc two-piece rotors) which really aren't used that much, and a brand new set. Just PM me and we can chat. I keep forgetting to sell these things.

Thanks guys...
Yes, I searched and red several, but I thought bolt-on meant bolt-on on the rears :banghead: .

Anyway, I got an offer of $650 on the 17 LB Girodisc front rotors. I see TSIAWD666 has them, but I am wondering if it is worth the money, cause a set of 4 from Stoptech cost 460 shipped ...

For daily, just get standard blanks which will be alot cheaoer for you and in the end easy to replace later down the road when they need replacing

The front Evo caliper is kinda heavy though, and I am at 360HP range (and still growing).
If someone here say "they made a huge difference in acceleration", then I will get the DBA 5000 series for $650 or the Girodisc for $ 680. Otherwise, I will stick to the Centric/Stoptech Slotted and drilled.

I'm running stoptech as well, I used there ceramic pads with them and they squeal so much, I tried everything to get them to stop then I quit driving it when the clutch went out they all rusted over pretty good. Now they no longer squeal.. Weird but I guess if you end up in the same spot keep watering them with a hose and let them get rusty then drive it LOL.

Jeeeeeez those calipers need to be blasted and re-painted/coated. It looks like they have 10 layers of paint on them.
You are right. Any paint recommendations?

Hahaha same here! I got mine off rockauto and then end of the summer last year they squealed so much. Parked it over the winter and they got some surface rust on them, now they don’t squeal anymore.

Moral of the story for the OP, don’t use stoptech pads. I never will again after this and how crappy they were on my daily.

I got a deal (I think) for $640 on the GIRO DISC TWO-PIECE front rotors.

Got them on eBay...but honestly, they are heavier than my AEM big rotors I currently have.
