Grabbed an old tire from my Bosses Ferrari 355 Challange race car as he uses the same size and version tire i will have to run, now i can start mocking up the bodywork for the over fenders and aero to suit the wheels new size and poking out.

The other amazing thing about this is these consideringnthe size, width and new size tire weight in or will when its a new tire at near as damn it 21kg! Now the ones i have on now are about the same if memory serves me well, so going up to an 18" and 10.5" wide 295 tire is aboutnthe same weight as a 255 17" wheel i have now then thats a good thing! Means im going in the right direction for sure,

Since finding my small o2 housing gasket leak and blocking air flow to the bay i think the mixture of it all has raised bay temps and enough to melt my AC fan, so i had to start phase 2 alot sooner then expected.

Phase 2 consited of the new hybrid 16g turbo, FP manifold, modified O2/DP V band and EGT bung, 255 fuel pump, rewire AN lines and Injectors, however injectors cannot go in yet since i have not got the ECU in yet and that will now be the last thing to install and tune, few things to note are the stock exhaust studs are very strong! None snapped and shocked how nice they all came out!

RCI's fuel rail is a PITA!!! I like it but what a bad design! You cannot (CANNOT) use it and keep your coil packs in the stock location! So now i have to relocate the coilpacks! Honestly hate when something so simple cannot be designed to fit in the space given! Now i have to modify stuff to make it work and its the last thing i wanted to do!
Had i of known this i would have gone another route on the rail!

So for now the rest is going in and i will be running a 13psi spring in my adjustable actuator and just run spring oressure to be safe on the fuel side and not hit fuel cut if possible, (i have read many have been fine with more then 13psi on stock injectors but i dont want to risk it and go lean so playing it safe)

Once i get the DP modified i get to put my modified oil pan on so i can see how this works out (lets pray it does well)

For heat control i have the FP SS heat shield and a lava Titanium turbo blanket for a TD05 16G. If i need more i will perhaps wrap the o2 housing some and make a SS shield for that, I also got a new AC fan blade unit, i have gold taped the blades to reflect and protect it as much as possible, it will help at least anyway,

If some parts i ordered arrive mid week i might have this running again next weekend and i can test out the bay and see how the temps are,

QUESTIION!!! Do you think its worth to tape the underside of the FP heat shield? Would perhaos reflect it back into the manifold or would it not really do alot?

No, just run the heat shield. That might not be enough air space if you do that on the underside and will become a fire risk.
 
It's not a fire risk if it's dei's reflect-a-gold. I don't get the not enough air space logic either. You absolutely should do this modification.

It is the dei stuff, i bought a long reel of it and been uning it in places i think it would help, is this what you do or did when you had a heat shield?
 
Ok sorry John, I should have asked, but there are airspace specs for each material type.

I guess give it a whirl.
 
What a week end, lots done and a little left to do,

NOTE, bare with my spelling LOL im on my phone and i have a band-aid on, i took a 2mm deep gash out my thumb! So typing is hard to do well so i will edit mistakes a some point! And add a pic haha.

Firstly i tried ou the new wheels and how they fit! And wow! They look amazing and super wide! My rear bodywork needs 3" each side to cover the wheels nicely! So i best start getting that mocked up. Looks really aggressive compared to the ones on there now. Old 17-8.5" ones weigh in at 47.2 lbs. New 18-10.5" ones came in at 45 lbs! On these manual scales anyway. So bigger wider and lighter! I will take that!

In this batch up forced uogrades i went all out and OTT on heat control LOL i basically gold taped alot that might see heat! And TI/lava wrapped the O2 housing (this is what i think i cut my thumb on - metal locking tie cut -) i think i did get carried away with the gold though LOL. Looking at the use on other forums im still mild compared to some,

DP modified nice! with its new V band but found out its close to the clocked 16G outlet but i got around it tightly. When i have to do stuff again i will take he turbo off and twist it around more to clear a fraction more, its protected with TI wrap so should be ok,

Only thing left to install is Ecmlink and injectors and evo maf now, which wont be for another few months due to wanting to get out on track for some basic testing/handling setup,

Most things are now AN hose which is nice last AN line to do is turbo drain but waiting on some 45 fittings to come in for that, then i can prime the car and start it up and check for fuel leaks and such.

1 thing i am doin is buyin another Innovate oil pressure/temp kit, my one was used and well it seems way off readings and ou cannot get the old sensors anymore so now they come with new ones that are replaceable. So because of this im using the stock oil pressure sender for now to keep an eye on things, plus now i have my new modified oil pan and pickup tube on i need to make sure its working as planned and its not causing me issues.

Anyway thats abou it for now, few pics i took though out the day.
 
Car is now 98% complete for the power upgrades!! Had a worry at one point as i rewired my fuelpump into my wireless system for an earth but for some reason it did not like that and would not do it even though it was reading as grounded when i made the switch on the steering wheel! So the guy who built it is going to look into it and see if we can get it to work or figure out why it wont. (Maybe its over powering the ground somehow? But for now its wired to the chassis and works after fixing a leak in STM'S bulk head fitting (nylon washer dont seal right)

Next up is ecmlink V3 and 1200cc fic injectors and evo 3 intake manifold and TB then thats the final piece of the engine puzzle and i can crank this up to about 22psi and see what power it puts out!!!

Car drives well for a 16G but it is heavily modified so i expect it to not do great considering im also only running 13psi spring currently to be safe, bokst is slower of course but picks up at 4k and weirdly enough even more at 5.5k? Fuel is safe on this boost so im on with the loss of boost for the time being.

Since the upgrades i have not had chance to test it all out properly, over the last 2 days i have taken it to work to check it out and see whats going on and check for leaks and issjes etc etc.

First of all the 16G akes it a bit louder on the exhaust and you can hear the turbo spool in the exhaust now, (i have straight pipes) its very nice and aggressive sounding almost like its cammed. Boost is later and packs a punch for sure even at 13psi. It is a different animal now and yesterday kinda scared me as it picked up and just went but as the car is almost fully setup for track the roads seem to not help and moved all over the place but other then the road grooves its a nice drive.

* Fuel upgrades work well, i had a leak on the STM nylon washer and i sealed it and since then fuel is no longer leaking which is a good thing.

* Hood of the car is not baking hot anymore and now i have all the heat shields and covers on i dont feel myself getting toasted everytime i open the hood now either, so far the fan is still in tacket and non melted LOL bay temps feel better by hand or rather face! (I used to put my face over the bay and i struggled to hold it there but now its not an issue)

Decided to take a highway drive this morning since its quiet and i can check a few different things out listed below.

**** I hit fuel cut! Its a brisk cool morning today, it was at 6k in 3rd gear i hit fuel cut!!! So its showing me the 16g is pulling too much air at this level, which is not surprising since its a hybrid and built to the max for mid to top end flow, A/F was quite stable at 10.3 during the WOT pull though and only at the end it went and cut. So as long as i dont do this all the time till i can get the finishing touches in on fueling and management it will be fine,

* Oil pan update!!!!! All works well and oil pressure is very stabe with it, i will be able to monitor it much better when my new innovate kit gets here as my old 2nd hand kit the sensor is broken! But from using the basic oem gauge taking the same off ramp the pressure did not drop at all! Now on the old non modified pan i used to see it dip slightly as it was a left hand bend so oil flows out of the bottom, now it did not drop even a fraction so at the moment thats telling me its not letting oil out which is very good, i can and will log actual numbers when the new kit is installed though, the rest of the oiling system is working perfectly well as i combined it with the Kiggly HLA in the head. Good news overall and im happy its working as i hoped it would have.
 
Popped into work sat as it was nice weather and made my trans and oil cooler ducting, made it from alloy sheet and makes use of the full opening in the bumper and encases 90% of the cooler, the top section was not able to be covered due to its location. Sprayed it black to stealth it out a bit, will make the exit and direct it but not until the splitter is made as i dont know where is best to extract it to yet so for now its open as the back to free flow out.

Also made covers for the fog light bezels and hope that now makes a tad more air go into the cooler area,

Nah, some stuff is just custom fab work for the car LOL.

Just want to make sure you're aware, but the automatic cars can experience a strong amount of boost creep between shifts. So much so that I observe my 12psi setting spike to 15psi for a few moments before tapering back to 12psi. You do have boost gauge correct? I suggest switching to a ngk bpr7es plug which is slightly colder to prevent knock and fuel cut. The colder plugs made a much smoother power band and predictable boost response. The hotter factory style plugs seemed to trigger knock easier than the colder plugs

I do yes, ive had to remove it while i do some wiring work currently, i only manged to do the inital drive with it but it was out when i hit FC so no idea on what it went to but it was not between a shift, it was as it was climbing near redline, since i was near redline i expect air flow was too much for the maf/fuel to compensate for, i have 7's in the garage but i decided for now while on lower boost levels to stick with the 6's till i up the boost more, im not planning to keep this for long as i need to get the next steps done so FC will not happen anymore,

Will the 7's work ok on such a low boost setting? I thought they might foul from not being in the correct temp range?
 
Wait.. You have dsms in Europe? Awesome. Man this build is super clean those ducts look great I wonder if I should run an oil cooler later on I have a spare one that would work for this.. Do you monitor engine operating Temps how did oil cooler affect heat soak ect?
Yes we do! In europe there are loads but in the UK we dont have many! Many 15 to 20 in the country so not many here,

I do log temps but currently using a used gauge kit but i have a brand new kit coming to be more accurate, the cooler gets hot of course as it will do when temps rise, also i log it from the OFH and not the pan so i dont know if this alters its readings or not (i assume it does)
 
Bobby, what did you use on the STM fitting to seal it up?
I put a little bit of fuel safe rtv on the nylon washer, its been holding fine since i did it, of course i will still keep en eye on it for a while longer to be extra secure but i dont think it will leak again
 
Yes I do. Put it on when I put my Walbro 450 in. I have been chasing a strong fuel smell for a while now with no visible leaks.

Oh i see, i believe mine was coming past the washer so i guess through the threads. Thats my best guess anyway,
