Im interested in how you are making the brackets for the quick release. I plan on doing the same thing also

ill post some pics up when i actually make time to work on them. which should be here soon. the only thing ive done so far is cut the brackets LOL its just some aluminum L channel i had leftover from when we made my fuel cell.

little update. got my quik latches put on the car yesterday. came out really well.

the brackets that i made
image2.jpeg

used some aluminum L channel and cut one end down some to get it all to fit.

pic of the bracket installed on the fender. already had made the hole for the latch itself.

and done. going to elongate the hole on the bracket to get the gap between the fender and bumper a little better but over all came out pretty damn well.

This is awesome! I was LITERALLY JUST searching for quick release bumper kit yesterday! Gixrman doesn't seem to make them anymore and I hate the ebay ones! So then I started to look into how people make them with the dzus fasteners and I have to say I honestly like yours wayy better. It also seems way more simple. How long would you say this took you? And cost of everything?

Nvm I found the rest of the info on your previous posts :p

i actually just made a how to thread as well LOL

small update.. took the car out cruising yesterday. car felt pretty damn good (been all winter since i drove it last). well coming back from getting lunch i down shifted the car to make my turn and i hear a noise coming from the back of the car. sounds like a straight cut gearset when downshifting. so i make a slight pull and no noise, let the car decel while in the same gear and no noise, only hear it when i downshift the car. so looks like im gonna drain the fluid and see what comes out. hopefully its nothing serious.

another small update. in getting ready for my cage to be put in i figured this little guy would come in handy
image2.jpeg

now i can notch any of the tubes if they need to be adjusted any.

well..... i found my noise in the rear diff....

ewww.jpeg

oops.jpeg

rear diff full of metal shavings... i already know what caused this and its entirely my fault.. i was just getting ready to drop it off to have the boost turned up as well. now to fix a differential.

Hey man do you have a dead on side shot of this with your race wheel setup. Thinking about going to 245/50 16 rears and 225/55 16 fronts on my car, but worried the tires look too balloony. What size and offset are your rpf1s?

What caused it?
last spring i made a dummy mistake when i put the pistol grip shifter handle on my 3g and rigged the shift lock to stay released. was in an alley not going 5mph and accidently threw the car in park. theres no shavings in the trans pan, still going to check the transfer case as well. but it was my dumb newb mistake.

will this do?

specs on them are 16x7 35mm offset.

Yep that'll do. I can't decide LOL. On your rear, I'd bet it has the broken side cover. Pull the axles and take a look.
idk. the only time i heard a noise was when i downshifted. never made a noise making a pull or cruising or on decel while in a particular gear.

Did you take anything apart yet? These always seem to make some metal even with nothing wrong, we put way to much power through a 6.5" ring gear. I've built quite a few rear diff's and I'm pretty reasonable on prices. There has been a few 4 bolt rear diff's on ebay for decent prices. Also if you need a ring and pinion it can be salvaged out of a 3 bolt or a 2g rear. LMK if I can help.

havent taken it apart. i seen the metal shavings and knew what it was from LOL i do have a auto 3 bolt in the basement thats supposed to be a good unit that i got in a trade. i might just pm you on this if you dont mind.

DAmn that sucks man keep at it, keep us posted.
something this minor isnt gonna hold me back LOL im am thinking about taking the car down for a minute to go over everything and possibly get this cage put in the car. have this thing coming back better than it was for sure.

small update:

picked up a new rear diff this weekend from a local memeber. now got to find some time to drop the rear subframe and get things swapped out. contemplating taking the car down for a while and doing some clean up and getting the cage thrown in there. also want to just swap it out and get some more miles on the car. trying to get something set up to get the car turned up before shootout as well.

picke dup to parts to make my tubular rear lower control arms today from work. also picked up some paint to clean the new duff up a little more.
armss.jpeg

gotta hurry up and get this car back together. its gonna be a part of my fiance and mines engagement photos she wants to do (using the car was her idea LOL).

newdiff.jpeg

deciding on cleaning this thing up before i put it in.

so tried to get my spacers cut down so i can get my lower control arms put in. got three of them done and this happened on the last one...

broken.jpeg

guess this old cutoff wheel decided it had enough over the years and decided to let go. which in turn damaged the last spacer.

broke.jpeg

so trying to decide on what route to take on this. i can either order another set of spacers and cut them down. or i fount a company that sells the spacer in the length i need already in stainless (the ones i have from the afco parts are aluminum). so i decide to finish up removing the sound deadening junk off the roof of the car. cant decide on what route i want to take with this. do i paint over it all to clean the look up or i can add better insulation (like dynamat) in place of the junk from the 90s

small update. havent been able to do much to the car. hurt my back a couple weeks ago and havent been able to move much. ive been doing some contemplating on what needs done next to the car and decided i needed to start looking into beefing up some of the drivetrain parts. so i placed my first of whats going to be many orders to ostar motorsports. ordered the frontline fabrications transfer case brace from them. hopefully i ordered in time to get it here by the weekend so i can get it put on the car as well.

small update pic:

getting everything torn apart to get the subframe out and diff swapped.

apart.jpeg

weather hasnt been cooperating with me as well as my work schedule to get this damn thing finished up. hoping to get it dropped this weekend.

still waiting on a reply back from frontline fabrications on an eta for my transfer case brace...

so cancelled my order on the frontline fab brace. after two weeks with ostar not being able to get in contact with them on an eta i decided to cancel it. ostar is a top notch company though. took real good care of me through all of this. so placed an order on a jeff bush brace today.
