Ok so, if I'm posting in the wrong area? I apologize, I just joined and I've been going thru some of the threads. Just don't have all the time in the world to go thru EVERYTHING!!! Anyways to the point

My car: 99 eclipse spyder gs sohc 2.4 non turbo auto.

I'm looking into boosting the hp but wanting to make sure I do this completely correct.
I've been looking at turbo kits and whatnot. But what wise words of advice can be given to me so I don't f*** this car up?

My advice is to NOT turbo that engine, especially if you're worried about "F***ing it up" as you put it.
It would require a full engine rebuild and way more money and parts than its worth.
A cheaper option would be to buy a 4g63 Full Swap, including the ECU, wiring harness, etc.
I hope this helps, and Good Luck!

Thanks. Much appreciated. Since I bought this car it's just been amazing. Even with it being 100% stock this thing gets up and goes.

First words of advice. Go through it with a fine tooth comb and perform maintenance. Maintenance before all else. Be confident in the base you start from. Oh, and fill out a DSM profile here, so people are aware of what you are working with and can answer your questions more fully.

Will do when I get the time. Working 6 days a week gives me very little time to do a lot and as far as maintaince, need to replace MAF sensor and valve cover gasket. Oh and also exhaust system. But other than that some cosmetic work. The top, front bumper and a new paint job. I've already done a bit of mechanical maintenance on it. I'm probably gonna do the timing chain soon(dunno if it was replaced by the previous owner) and belts just to be safe. Oh wait...I just remembered that the motor mounts should probably be replaced as well. They seem a bit shakey. But that's about it. When I bought the car it had 100.006k miles on it.

I look at the tread you linked me to and thanks. I have saved the PDF list and will see what the future will hold for my car.

Also, I'm probably going to be redoing the exhaust system. Any suggestions on what I should go with that's not going to excessively loud?

You can turbo that engine without building it... But yeah still just cheaper to swap in a 4g63T.

Why do you think you have to replace the maf sensor?

Why do you think you have to replace the maf sensor?
Because when the maf sensor is plugged in it makes the engine sputter and I have to pound the gas pedal a few times to get it going and when it's unplugged it runs fine. Just eats thru gas

Also, any tips on exhaust systems for my Eclipse that's not horribly loud and sounds good? Reason I ask is because I reside in a 55+ community and don't wanna piss people off when I come home at 2-3am(no one not that old LOL)

Most of the off the shelf exhausts for our cars are gonna be designed for turbo cars, have a straight through muffler, and thus be loud and raspy on a N/A engine.

I suggest hitting up your local muffler shop and seeing what they can fabricate for you.

Or buying a cat back and having a muffler shop change out the muffler. Or just getting a header and calling it done.

Well I priced a new exhaust system(catback) from a local place $650 and explained my situation with him and said magnaflow would be my best bet for quietest with a good sound to my car! Seems like a fairly decent price. And thanks for all the help everyone has given me so far. :)
