1700lbs doesn't seem too feasible , just for comparison the red demon weighs in at 2,375lbs. In any event, delete carpet, rear seats, passenger seat, all trunk, and other non essential plastics. External fuel cell with a smaller capacity, lightweight rims, delete excess wires from harness, delete a/c, ps and thats all I can think of off the top of my head. You will need carbon fiber doors, hatch, hood, fenders. Like I said I don't see 1700 a real option.

Sorry 2700 finger mistake

Right, besides what I mentioned already depending on your applications lexan polycarbonate windows, lightweight battery, remove sound deadening... Try looking up weight reduction threads in the search bar to get some realistic ideas, some threads have great how to's

wiper fluid res., and if its a race only car, you can pull the wipers and wiper motor along with the convertible top motor. sound system, spare tire, cut the dash, srs system

you can get a break down of part weights from http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/curb-weight-breakdown.422042/

here are the stock weight for the spyder

Since you have a spyder, cut out the bulkhead that the rear seats attach to that sits between the seats and the area the top folds into.

Last time i checked my car i got it to 2950lbs;/ 1340kg and still working on getting it down, but i have since added a cage, but also alot of things have been swapped and replaced like lighter calipers and rotors, suspension arms, seats and brackets etc, it all adds up in small doses, windows and using carbon is next on my list!

If i can get to 2755lbs / 1250kg thats good but its hard! I think andrews time attack car is the lightest at 2524 lbs ish / 1145 kg, our cars are not light and would be very hard to get under 1000kg!

Im cutting more Weight

Also planning on do a front end tubular líke rich's Daly car

I'm not sure what exhaust you're running, but an aluminum exhaust could shave some weight off if you're using a SS system at the moment. This is something I was looking into a little bit ago. My plan was to run a SS down pipe to around the oil pan, and the rest was going to be AL. This is if you still want or need to run a full exhaust.

Gotcha, would just be adding weight then. Small battery set up will shave some lbs. Tubular subframes also. A friend of mine is shaving almost 100lbs off from switching to front and rear tubular subframes on his 1g.

Last time I weighed my car as a 5-speed, it was 2425 without me in it.

- Stock glass and stock brakes
- Full 10-point cage (mild steel)
- Parachute
- 5 gal fuel cell
- Bumper exhaust
- Removed all wipers/motors
- No AC
- De-powered rack
- No interior or sound deadening
- Removed ALL unused wiring
- Carbon fiber hood/hatch/doors/sunroof
- Tubular rear subframe

Well whatever you do don’t put a lightweight harmonic balancer unless it’s been proven to dampen properly or you will destroy your rotating assembly!

I have a fluidmpr btw

I was thinking of doing the lexan windows also. If you end up doing this let me know what route you will be taking.
Will do man

Well continue with this
I changed
seats for a Light weight ones
Cut off some weight on back and front end
Waiting to change wheel and tires think Will save 10kg each wheel so 40 kgs off rottating mass Will work good
Will do Lexan Windows

Planing on make a cf/fg hard top

Cons
Added weight from roll bar

I founded a pic of my last weight
1245=2745lbs

I think now is a little less i cutt weight from

Masive harness rewire
Changed to manual Windows
SEATs
Dashboard
No instrument panel
No ac vents, control etc
Some rear body delete
Short exhaust
New wheel /tiré setup , 15" rima With slicks instead xxr 18 Rims

So think i cutt at least 50 kgs

I'm doing something similar with my Awd talon. I just started the removal process but literally almost everything will be removed. Hopefully I'll be sitting around 2500 without me in it. I've already removed most of the front interior stuff and the AC system.
