I did post this data to this thread, but doesn't harm to post it again.

Evo diffs up to 8/9 will fit into any 2G diff housing - possibly 1G as well, but I've only worked with 2Gs.
2G non-LSD axles fit Evo diffs perfectly. Neither side 2G LSD axle fits - one side appears to, but the splines are an inch short and get chewed off pretty quickly.
Evo inners fit onto 2G LSD axle shafts, allowing 2G LSD axles to be used with Evo diffs
2G axle shafts have different splines on the inboard end, depending on whether they are LSD or non-LSD shafts, so you cannot swap non-LSD inners onto LSD shafts, or Evo inners onto non-LSD shafts.
Since your very knowledgeable here, do you know if evo axles fit in front? I wanna do a the half shaft mod and i think the evo axkes will be stronger up front, but i may have to modify cups etc, my searching is not throwing alot to me

I don't know whether the inboard joints from an Evo will fit a DSM trans, but the outboard joint will definitely not fit the 2G outboard hub bearing - the Evo splines are noticeably larger in diameter. The Evo hub assembly will not fit a 2G upright - the bolt holes are laid out in a seemingly identical manner, but the pattern is several millimetres larger.

This is why i ask as currently i am using evo 5 wheel bearings! I tried it and it worked, same flange style bearing housing, also the outer hub is more like the 99/3g so better for evo rotors, so i think when the evo 4/5 was in transition it may have been similer to ours in a way but i dont know anything about diffs and inner joints etc of the trans, i dont know if they are thinner or thicker, but inners are abke to be swapped right? Never done it before so i dont know how they are dissasembled

Very good point - my apologies.

I have only tested Evo 8/9 front axles & hubs, since those are the only ones commonly available in the USA.

I forget that you have all the other Evos available to you. Very jealous :)

So maybe i should start playing around then huh, if the outer splines are the same perhaps the 4/5 might be the same inner aswel with better joints and shaft size! Hmmm i think its time to get messing haha

Thanks for posting the simplified explanation. There's a very good chance I missed it the first time. It was easier for me to find Evo 3 cups than non LSD axles. Cheaper too.

Www.rockauto.com has some rear axles listed under 97 awd talon only. Beware, it wont show under any other year/make/model and the shafts are a hair smaller than stock. You'll also have to use your own ABS joints.

SIM racing also sells upgraded rear axles with no inner joints, but we'll need evo joints anyway. And, they aren't DSS expensive either.

My ABS has been gone for some time now. But good to know. #spares LOL

Is this the one you are talking about: SURTRACK/TRAKMOTIVE MI8196

No ABS 'tone ring' - can I press my own tone ring on, or is it simply abs-incompatible >
Better than DSS at least :)

You turn corners, you need quality ABS...

Yes, I believe you can press on an ABS ring.

Autocrossing a few cars without ABS was great for learning technique, but I have no plan on removing mine. Flat spots suck. :)

Is the ABS ring on the "oem" style axle removable? I never took a close look.
So I would need to buy the Non LSD Strictly Performance Axle for use with a Non LSD 2G inner axle, or the LSD Strictly Performance Axle with an Evo 8/9 inner.
So I should probably source the inner axle first, but would the Evo 30 spline inner be the better solution?

Hey Bobby, do you think these will clear the lower control arms you are making?

edit: I suppose I could run your arms upside down:hmm:

Im not sure how these foul, im assuming the body of the shaft is bigger,

also this spacer im adding in the kit moves the arb away towards the back of the car, this levels the adjuster central more, so worst case you can add some more to get it to your needs away from the shaft! How much i dont know but please let me know once you do!

Flipping the arm wont do anything but make it a bit higher on the arb rodend adjuster, its a very level arm other then that,

STM says the axle boot will touch the bigger Moog sway bar end links.
By "flipping" I mean the rod end for the sway bar oriented down instead of up. Less ground clearance, but this ain't an offroad vehicle.
You don't need to worry about it with your WrongWheelDrive :tease:

I removed my ABS years ago when I thought I wanted to go drag racing. If I had known then that I'd be going road racing, I'd have left it. Oh well...Lol

ABS is for people who cannot control their car! Haha losers, i would never have ABS in any track car and mainky daily, i normally buy my cars without it as i prefer it.

Oh i understand you now BUT!!!! without seeing your ARB i am not 100% it will work out as the amount of swivel you would require to go the oppersite side of the arms it may push the bends that are in yhe main body from the arb into your subframe! Food for thought!

I agree!
I had no problems sans ABS.

Says the guy who hasn't raced yet? ROFL:tease:
I have track day road raced my 2g GSX ripping up local road courses.
I have TCE's 2g front "Track Kit" that consists of 13.3" x 1.25" rotors and Wilwoods W6A Calipers on my car with the BP10 street pads and never locked up my tires.
I bet if I had a more aggressive pad compound on there, I'd probably sing a different tune.
It helps that I'm on 255/40 17 Toyo RA1's.
I could hear the tires tearing at the tarmac, but no lock up.
I will be eliminating my ABS on my 99 GSX...

You weren't on the brakes hard enough. I have the same kit with stickier 285 tires and can engage ABS in an instant at lower autocross speeds. I flat spotted a buddy's hoosiers at Pocono at 100mph because I suck and wasn't expecting it to lock so fast. If it wasn't for saving tires, I wouldn't use ABS either and driving without it has taught me fantastic brake technique. But, I'd rather have it just for the safety aspect. This is a one man show, not a sponsored race team with big budget.
