I said back, not side. Anyway, I'm also not trying to argue with you. The AB hood on the other hand. I wouldn't even use that on my car and I don't care much for perfect fitment. Just not sh** fitment.

I agree, I would not use the AB hood at this time either. I would need to see the outcome of Slowwhite's replacement hood.

Im assuming your looking for something to vent heat while racing? The RRE/carbontrix hood vent does a decent job of getting air out. I can see the heat pouring out from the vent, like I use to see on my evo 9. Looks wise.. you either like it or hate it.

So I thought it was gerrett who posted this picture, so took my me a while to find it but it was carbonetics who posted it. it's just mocked up so maybe it'll go away but does anyone else see what I'm seeing?
In reference to the issues I have with my hood?

sergio posted it but thats actually @Atuca who owns this one

Passenger side is big.
Driver side is closer.
Front nose seems uneven from the point of the nose going in both directions. Drive side showing the biggest gap, at the edge of the bumper/inner headlight area.

I saw this posted recently also, so it could be just laid in there. But that is also their wide body car, and the AB hood is different between the WB and normal fenders i thought?

It is different john freund always said the V1 AB hood won't work with stock fenders.
I really hope it's just because it's mocked up.
Although this doesnt look nearly as severe, but the curve of the nose isn't the same as the curve of the bumper, just like my hood, which creates a gap at the ends, that for me I can put my entire pointer finger into.
Anyrate can't wait to see the finished pruduct as someday this is where i want to end up with my build and hope at least one of them does a full install write up.

The fenders don't even look symmetrical just judging by the headlight area. I hope people know the wide body kits don't make your car all aerodynamic, at best I think you'd be able to have wider tires and vent out the heat from the engine bay. Other wise it's all looks. Which I suppose that's what most of the community has been about from what I'm seeing. Aside from the OG's.

This kit is designed for time attack.

You can fit a 356 wide tire under it from what I've heard.

Gerrett is going to be using it for hill climbs though.

And if you follow john freund who has the V1 kit. He's won the Ultimate track car challenge last 2 years in a row.
Any car sporting the AB aero kits are all about racing/winning. Just the investment alone to get into the kit is more then most have in there entire DSM's.
He'll I'm just now getting into $11-12,000 range for my whole car. John Freund has that just in wheels and tires.

I'm not doubting the heat ventilation and the size tire you can throw on the car with this kit. it's the aerodynamics of it like if you put it through a wind tunnel that I have doubt it would perform well since these will all be made from the same mold (assuming that it is) and from what I read somewhere on here by either Andrew Brilliant or another reputable time attack guy is that every car would be different it it's aerodynamics (that's basically the summary of it there was alot of talk about why that made alot of sense when I read it but of course was too much knowledge to cram in my brain at once LOL)

Anymore pictures of this wider front end?

Both kits were designed by Andrew Brilliant. The one the 'OGs' got was just a very limited run. Seems like the v2.0 is more up to what Sergio can actually produce and ship.

Andrew's comment on every car is different is more along the lines of a DSM vs a mustang. Not literally that every car is different. Now there will be some slight alterations car to car and setup to setup, but the main focus of his point is that what you do on an eclipse can't be copied and applied as is onto a mustang and expect the aero to perform the same.

This is what Sergio posted for the V2 AB kit. I haven't seen a finished pic though.

The picture you guys are talking about was about 15 mins of setting everything on the car. Nothing has been lined up, in the photos I hadn't even gotten time to sand and run spacers to get everything straight. The install is different from V1 install, but still requires manually fitting the kit and hood to the car. The parts are hand laid and everyone one will be slightly different. Sanding and fitting and fiberglass kit is to be expected.

But I was excited to get v2 on the car so I had to snap a few pictures.

I am recording a full installation video for the kit (as well as build for the whole car in general) that will be posted soon. There you guys will be able to see in detail how the kit, including the hood, all fit together.

For now, just understand this is not final fitment, so please hold judgment til I get more time to install it properly. There is literally scotch tape holding on my roof, A pillar, and rear quarter windows on atm..

What did you do between picture 1 and picture 2 with your bumper to hood adjustment?

In picture one there is a gap just like mine (just not as large as mine)

Then pict 2 it's minimal.
I took my front bumper mount off in the middle and push the bumper closer to the hood and it reduces the gap. But I'll have to fabricate a new mount for the bumper and then like you said sand down or add material to get the curve to match correctly.

And thank you for doing a install write up. Mocked up it already looks awesome.

]granted the cutting of the hood for the timing cover us 4g63 guys will still have to do

I beg to differ. The v1 aero kit (made by a different company and for non-stock body panel fitment) didn't require clearancing at all. It is possible to pop up the vent section a bit more, which will create a hump/bubble in the center of the hood a bit, to clear it. If he does take the time to fix it, I hope this is on the list. It bugs me just as much as the clearances to other body panels being off.

I'll probably send him a message and see what he is thinking and make sure he knows more people are interested in a properly fitting hood. My brother and I have wanted one since before he was even making them but keep getting deterred because of fitment issues and supply timeframe/customer service issues. I can deal more with a product taking longer than expected to arrive than it not fitting right.

What did you do between picture 1 and picture 2 with your bumper to hood adjustment?

I probably just moved the cardboard boxes around the bumper is sitting on. The passenger fender was not shaped perfectly (as Josh408 mentioned) causing it to not sit right. I been sanding and shaping slowly to get it to sit flush. The bumper cover and fenders attach differently from OEM, and different from my V1 install, so I am just going through the paces getting the fitment right

Again, I had to do the same thing with my V1 kit. Hand made parts that are not made from a CNC mold and cnc cut to shape are going to require some massaging to fit perfectly. The excess fiberglass/carbon is cut off with shears and hand sanded when cured. Fitting the parts on the car requires "Professional installation". If I was being completely honest, Sergio fenders, and all the other parts I got in general, were way better then FXMD's fabrication of V1.

so I am working on the install currently, it then takes 3 times as long to record everything on video and document the steps, so it will take a while. But, I am willing to be the professional installer and take the time to install it correctly and it will all be worth it in the end.

Also of note:

V1 hood was not based on the OEM hood. It is shaped differently, it size is different (width, height, and length!), and its construction was different. Sergios v2 amb wide body hood and his original AMB hood are the same mold. The difference is only the louvers added for the aero kit, since they were removed from the fender as in V1 body kit.

Come to think about it, using v1/v2 is just confusing, because there have been several iterations of the kit and hood.

Here are some comparisons to the V1 AMB hod (not to be confused with Sergio's first version hood) and Sergios v2 hood. Notice the difference in height at the central opening, the reason there are no clearance issues with the timing cover on Our v1, compared to his (and since his v2 is same mold as his v1.. same clearance issues are present)

There is a full one inch height difference. If the mold is remade, and I have expressed my concerns with my full kit review to him, I would hope this original v1 hood shape is brought to Sergios "Version 3??" I guess it would be called. Last I spoke with him he said he was making a new mold, so hope to see all the concerns addressed. I know one of his current big projects was getting an oven in and working to bring prepreg carbon to the table, but hopefully that will not affect the time table too much.

One of the problems with this hood is that during the rain it fills valve cover with water. I got a brand new set of NGK wires and they seem to seal. but I am not sure if I truly trust them. Has anyone found a better solution?
This was @TSiAWD666 's solution...

I had a fabricator make that. It has some m6x1 standoffs that screw into the spark plug cover holes. Note the seal I added at the end that presses against the timing belt cover. Works pretty well when I have to use it.
