Anyrate that's all the screen shots.

Hopefully there all in order and make sense.
If posting them isn't allowed or creates issues feel free to delete them.

What really sucks for me and them is I had a whole plan to buy almost all of there parts over time as my car becomes more and more dedicated track car.
Next year I planned to have a cage put in and was going to go with there dash and door panels.
After this whole fiasco. I'll be changing those plans up.

Sergio replied (maybe got wind of my posts lately) and said he could do a partial refund and asked what would be fair.
I replied I'll get a quote on what it'll cost to fix the hood once the hurricane passes
And send him the quote information and well go from there.

I dont k ow why he cannot take it back and fix it! Surely its cheaper for him! I bet its going to cost more then the hood to fix! Labour is not cheap! And then he will say no and its not fsir then blame you for pulling a scam!

I tbink you should say i either get a new one thats proven to fit before shipping or have the same issues or just ask for a full refund and he can have the hood collected! If he dont agree file a paypal claim!

I already talked to paypal. I have till December to file a claim. Sergio may know this which may be why sometimes it's weeks before he responds.
The procrastination level on his part some times in just ubsurd.
-Still no video

Im back to working 12hr shifts 6 days a week now so I only get Sundays off which makes this even harder.

Unfortunately, you're in small-business-full-retardville. Every single business I've dealt with (FP, JNZ, JMF, Franks Custom Fiberglass, Carbonetics, local places.....list goes on) refuses to answer phone calls and emails. It's impossible to get ahold of anyone but they're the only game in town.

Slowwhite. I got an AB Hood from Sergio back in May or June this year. I had the same issue with the gap. A friend of mine installed it (body shop owner) same things. had to cut to fit the timing cover area, and that gap he ended up grinding the hood hinges to close that gap as much as possible. But it does leave a slight misalignment on the hinge end of the hood (won't align with fenders is what I'm trying to say) but seeing as you already cut the hood for the hood pins I don't know how well that idea would work out for you at this point

Exactly. I already cut the hood pins so I can't adjust them.

Like posted earlier I found a slight fix that makes it looks a little better. Since I can't adjust the hood. I can bring the bumper to the hood. But that requires new bracket to hold it in place (which I can make at work) but then the headlights stick out funny.

I was talking to a guy at work that I remembered built a truck last year that had a fiberglass bed made for it.

He gave me the number of the guy he used. So I'll give him a call tomorrow and hopefully be able to swing into his shop on my way to work if they're still open

He posted something about AB dsm hoods on his page and how great they were. I replied that it would be nice if all the hoods fit that way....he then responds that "they all come from the same mold, some take their time, others don't".

@slowwhite Thanks for posting your experience with this hood. Looks like the OP with the silver car has some fitment issues above his headlights too and slightly along the fenders, but nothing like what you've got going on between the headlights.

"they all come from the same mold, some take their time, others don't".
How the hell is that part a matter of not taking enough time to fit it to the car? Time ain't gonna make it wider. And the one on the silver car is clearly shaped different in the front. Unless he means sometimes Carbonetics doesn't take their time fitting it to the mold?

I ordered one of these hoods back in April against my better judgement. I knew Carbonetics had a history of problems, but there was a thread talking about how that was in the past and done. (Guess not)

My hood should be ready soon but now I'm considering not even paying the balance and shipping cost once it's ready now. Being out the $325 down sounds better than being out the full shipped price, and having a hood that pisses me off everytime I look at it.

Well your hood might be the one then that he made after I asked or a new hood.
He said he was going to test fit it on his 99. Shop car.

Sergio and I also have been talking the last 2 days. I've spent 22yrs working in customer service based industries on and off as a manager for most of it. And most of that being with production side of things as well.
And I gave him some suggestions on how to improve and steps to help with quality control.
Weather he has the ability or man power to apply those suggestions in some form is up to him.

But he did agree with me he plans to test fit all hoods going forward. (He admitted that was something he did in the beginning but got lax with it due to business being so busy)
This hood is one of there early products. And molds wear out I'd imagine. So he also said he'd take my suggestion and revisit the mold soon to improve it.
I bought his rear diffuser also with this hood and it fits perfectly. Just to be fair to Sergio I feel obligated to share that info also since I am pleased with it.

From my dealings with Sergio, he does seem like a reasonable guy, he just needs to be able to invest more time and money into his business to improve it.
I hope you guys come to a agreement that works well for both of you.

Also to others reading this. Cutting the hood to fit the timing cover has always been a necessity from my understanding. Although it kind of sucks, it is just what we deal with due to the covers position.

And the timing belt section is really not difficult to cut out either

Think I spent less then 15 min doing mine.

My guess is Sergio did this to save money on making different molds for each set up.
Although I wouldn't recommend it. I read it clears the timing belt if you don't run a cover. And then you have the NA guys who wouldn't need the cut out either if I'm not mistaken.

Update from Sergio.

Sergio claims he's making a new mold for the hood with improved design.

He also asked me to hold off on trying to find a shop that would repair my old hood (struck out with the first 2 shops I tried. But I live in a small town)
And said he'd replace my hood with one from the new mold. But said it'll take about 17 weeks.
Starting to gear up for holiday seasons anyways now. Got to start early when you have 4 kids. So currently will just start back after the new year.
Here's the messages just to show proof of the conversation with Sergio, hope he sticks to his word and time frame. If he does then I'll more then likely give him another shot and order up at least his dash, maybe door panels too for my cage install.

I wouldn't be surprised if it takes longer for him to make a more proper fitting mold. I mean from a business point of view I'd say he should take his time until it's as perfect as it can get (just thinking more for the long run since the AB Hood seems to be a very popular product, wouldn't want this issue coming up again) granted the cutting of the hood for the timing cover us 4g63 guys will still have to do but that's no big deal compared to the other stuff we have to diy, and I say heck no to just taking off the timing cover. what if you do a pull and the motor moves a bit, the belt might just contact the vent. not worth it. However I am very interested in seeing how this new mold will turn out, I just hope he doesn't rush it because of the demand for it.

Take a pic from the back, I bet it sits too high. And the left side is closer to the quarter window than the right side.

I would probably use one too for my autocross car for weight savings, but your fitment is far from "on point".

I disagree.

The fitment is very good for what it is, and what I have seen on older versions. The right side is slightly closer I agree, but can be easily be adjusted with the brackets, and trunk pin. I have not done that.
It latches firmly and does not move. Retains the use of oem bolts. I have purchased carbon from a lot of vendors over the years for DSM, EVO, G37 and so on,(VIS, Seibon,APR, Xcessmotring, and Carbonetics) Nothing is going to fit like factory but this hatch "at least mine" fits very good.

I'm not here to argue, just here to give people my feedback. This hatch is better then the VIS carbon hatch out there.

I said back, not side. Anyway, I'm also not trying to argue with you. The AB hood on the other hand. I wouldn't even use that on my car and I don't care much for perfect fitment. Just not shit fitment.
