I have seen pictures floating around claiming that a car is gsx but yet the engines don't seem to match. For example the dohc gears are on the right side of the motor but hen I seen another that's on the left side of the motor?!
What's the difference in engines here?

The 4G63 in a GSX or TSi will have the cam gears on the right side of the motor when facing the engine bay. The cam gears on a 420a will be on the left side of the motor.

So if it's facing the left then it's the 420a engine which in other words won't be a gsx

You got it. However just because then cam gears are on the left does not mean it's not a 4g63t. Some people have swapped the 4g63t from the later evos into their 420a cars

That is extremely rare and I doubt most people will ever see one in person running.
