so ever since I bought the car. it looked like the alternator has been burning apart my serpentine belt. Noticed a lot of black prices in between pully and alt, but it never did anything when I drove it. Now my new belt burns and those shavings are back from where I cleaned the old ones. Checked this thread, but nothing loads up except the response box.>http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/alternator-belt-eating-away.167036/< plus while researching I found my car D should have three belts other than the timing. I only have one for alternator.

Ok man if your outer water pump pulley has been removed in the past it might have been put back on backwards and usually results in the alternator belt getting eaten up like you described. You are missing the inner waterpump/ps belt and the ac belt i believe. I am pretty sure that could be why your belts are gettin eaten.

Also be sure to read your post after you post it to correct it. Misspelled words and such kinda throw people off. I was like what? He found little black prices in his pulley?

You showed where the bottom bolt fell out of your alternator earlier. Check the holes in the alternator and make sure they aren't wallowed out. Also check the bolt that holds the alternator adjustment bracket to the block. Unless changes have been made, you do not have a serpentine belt. 1Gs have 3 belts.

Tighten everything up. put on the correct belts, adjust the tension on the belt. Then try and move the alternator side to side. If it will move back and forth the alternator will set at an angle and cut the belt up.

I got the car with one belt. Bought PS belt, but ended up removing PS components and so I'm missing one belt. My current belt runs from crank pully, to a pully above crank and then over to alternator.

When the car is idling, look at the harmonic balancer- is it wobbling? Hows the tension on the alt belt? Does it squeal when the motor is running? Have you tried setting the tension? I tighten my belts so that I can grab the alt belt and twist it 90 degrees with a decent amount of resistance. If you cant twist the belt 90*, its too tight, and if you can get it to twist more, its too loose. This is with your thumb and index finger, btw, no tools or putting the power of the Hulk on it!
Also, the other belt you are missing is the one that runs the AC compressor.

What are these. That's literally all I want to know.

Alt belt is perfect.

How do you drive this with no P/S ? Seems to me you may just have a misaligned belt setup that the car isn't designed for.

Dude I love not having power steering. The thing about power steering is that its a double edged sword. Yes you can turn the wheel easier and without difficulty, but so can anything that hits the tires. Plus I've been driving with PS for two and a half years and I must say. I have a waaaay better feel of how the front tire move on the road. I don't know how to explain it but it just feels more like I'm part of the car. It only sucks at 1-5 mph. After 5 its like you have power steering.... Sorta.

Its well documented. Manual racks are available from the base model. The ratios are not the same. Same question. Why are you modding a car with known major issues?

I wouldn't really call a possibly missing but definitely dead 3rd gear syncro a major issue.....well I wouldn't.....even if my trans could lock back up wile I'm doing 60 down on my way to work.

You can just remove all the power steering stuff while my trans is getting rebuilt im considering removing mine too.

So. Much. Room. =D

You are ridiculous. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Considering I'm only theorizing and have only seen pictures of syncros. Nor have I every disassembled a transmission. I apologize for attempting to grasp at a answer since the transmission runs fine all gears 1000-6000 rpms.
I'm sorry for being uninformed and trying to grasp at something out of my field of knowledge.[DOUBLEPOST=1412809855][/DOUBLEPOST]Ok well I didn't get 5th to 6000 but will I ever really be going that fast for daily driving?
