I have 99 GST (Spyder) with the the stock Infinity system. I tried to search and find some information on selecting a deck but I couldn't really find the answer I need. I am not trying to do anything major here. I am just trying to put something in that has an aux or BT so I cant stream music from my phone. I do not want to use an external FM modulated unit as that sacrifices sound quality too much. I have used a Scosche Blue Fusion module on my Avalanche with great success (it has Bose with separate amps similar to infinity). I wasn't really expecting much from Scosche but amazon was clearing it out for around 50 bucks and turns out it was easy to install with the factory radio and even works with the steering wheel controls. Now amazon is selling the Scosche BT1200 unit (similar to what I previously purchased for my truck) and I wonder if anyone here has tried to use it?
If that thing wont work what does it look like for installing a deck. It seems (from what I have read) that the Infinity head unit is just a receiver and each speaker has its own 2 Ohm amp. I replaced the 6.5s & 6x9s with some mid grade Sony speakers because the original infinitys were rotted out. The original tweets still sound ok and I am not in a hurry to replace those. My concern is that a newer deck might require rewiring everything to run off its amp instead of the separates. Is there a way to connect a regular deck that will work with the stock wiring and amps? I am ok with the current sound quality just planning on going with something that has an aux, BT and a USB port.
Also I know that the stock unit is a double DIN, is anyone able to use a dash kit that splits the space into two slots, one for a stereo deck and maybe another for a turbo timer (planned for future)?
