Im actually in the same process of installing an 8.8 too. I'm curious on how people are supporting the rear end. Ive seen pics on one thread but i really didn't like how the setup was. I'm would like to integrate the rear end to the roll cage.

I can't see why people are questioning going to a 9" over the 8.8. I have yet to see a single 9" failure (offroad, drag, or derby's), where i have seen an 8.8 fail with under 300hp and 33" tires bound up in rocks. Plus being a c-clip axle, 8.8 failures typically aren't very fun. I would never take the time to build a suspension around a questionable c-clip axle. Sure the 9" might drain an extra 6-10hp (in a 600-1000hp car), but imo, its worth it for the strength and ditching the c-clips alone.

Looking forward to seeing what the total outcome is. Hopefully you get the record your looking for bro. I too am shooting for a record but not something like you LOL, just trying to get my name ion the board of the highest hp 20g, and maybe stock block record. Definitely subscribing and very supportive of this build. Good luck.

Updated. The car is currently on hold since many of you know I just recently moved back to Florida. The Eclipse right now is in Puerto Rico and will get shipped to Florida as soon as possible and will continue working on it real soon. The SFI 25.1 cage is next...

Update:

Project RWD 4G63 DSM is very well alive but will be continued after winter. Been its such a huge build, decided to hold it for a few months and build a fun street car to start having some fun and not go insane while building the Eclipse. Decided to go with a 5th generation Mirage, since its 400lbs lighter than the 2G DSM, and will swap in a FWD 46G3 that was already built back when the Eclipse goal would be a street RWD. Since the Eclipse went from a street build to a full drag car build the already built 4G63 with Wiseco HD pistons and Eagle rods wont be used. The Eclipse will have a built engine with Magnus parts. The Mirage will be named the Honda Killer, coming this winter !!!! Goal is a 10sec street FWD 4G63... 4G63 FWD swap is dated to start next week once the mock up 4G63 engine gets pick up this weekend, since my Eclipse and all their parts are still in Puerto Rico, and the already ordered Evo V front fenders, FP 3076 turbo, header, and a few more misc parts arrive...

Awesome Build! Would be cool to check it out when you get it together, iam in wpb and pbir is not too far away for some runs. Keep up the work on the build.

Any new updates to be soon released? It's getting close to winter.

Also, is the tranny you're talking about using a manual?

Oh man, I haven't kept up on this forum for a long time. This is my first seeing this project. You definitely need to put up more pics. What turbo setup are you planning? What kind of power/et are you shooting for? Sorry I'm not sure what the stock chassis record is.

I love the fabrications stuff though, def put more pics if you want to share and let us know when it's back state side. Anyone is welcome to visit eh? I might have to take a trip over there from Osceola when you get it back.

Have been on & off with the car this last year, due to relocating to Daytona Beach, FL. But the car is going to get finished one way or another. I also started a 2 race car at the same time, a SFWD 4G63 Mirage aka "Honda Killer". Pic of Aftermarket Industries CNC oil catch cans, 1 for the RWD Eclipse & 1 for the SFWD Mirage.

How's the build going? any updates?

Read end of the car seems easy to come up with something. Limited only by imagination / preference or purpose of the one taking the plunge.

what I’m curious about is the front?
I’m mildly toying with the idea of RWD and one thing that stands out is the rack and pinion is right where you’d stab the transmission.
Still have reading to do on the various threads regarding RWD conversion(s). One question I have not answered yet is what modifications to the front need to take place? Mainly steering. What to do with steering rack. Everything else seems RELATIVELY straight forward.
