Can anyone recommend a (cheap) welding machine?

Hey guys,
because many of you do weld "as a hobby", I guessed you could give me some advice.

I do have little welding experience (did weld a few times with a DC TIG welder).
Now I want to get my own machine.
I thought of getting a ACDC TIG welder. Yes a DC would be fine for a beginner but I'm pretty sure I would blame myself after a few month not being able to weld aluminium.

Now the real question:
Is there a good cheap ACDC welder (I have no problem with getting a Chinese one). What kind of options do you really need while welding?
My price limit is 900-1000 bucks but if it is cheaper, more money left to make the dsm faster.

Tell me your experience.

Thanks guys

Look at the longevity SX200 Good machine and it falls in your budget.

I am not much of a welder but I needed one, and another member pointed me to it. I am happy with it for as little as I use it.

I can't find any sx200 for Export (living in germany). Is there anything that can be "wrong" with a chinese one as long as it isn't defect?

If "cheap" is the priority I would consider putting the cash in your pocket and waiting on a quality, used machine. Jump on a deal when you find it.

You'll get much more for your 1k.

I have a Everlast powerpro 205S. Thing is a beast, started doing smaw with it. Hasn't let me down yet.

I havent had any issue with my 200sx just need more practice. 5 year warranty. Ive used a synchrowave and some sort of lincoln that we have at school. And they are all nice, the only difference I really notice is the torch.

I'm ok with that, if you can tell me what is wrong with the cheap ones?
Yes you don't get great support and the machine might be failing faster.

but hell #### it, my brother did use a chinese tig-welder for a few years now, without any problems.
I'm not into welding yet and my brother don't have another welder to compare it with also it is just an DC machine.

It's not that I'm limited to 1k, I just thoughta 1k machine maybe can really can do what I want.
I don't care how the edges feel, how it is looking, if the knobs are cheap and so on.

I would be pleased if you tell me why the expansive machine is better.

I found this welder on german ebay: INVERTER AC/DC PULS 200A 8M KABEL 230V ALU SCHWEIßGERÄT HF NEU PROFI WIG-TIG MMA | eBay
I think it is just a import from china with a different name branded on it.

Hope the german isn't to irritating ;)

The Eastwood TIG is another affordable option. Dual voltage, AC/DC, and a retail price of around $900. I've sold about 50 of them, and only had 3 come back. And all 3 were covered by warranty problem-free.

I'm not sure if they are available on the eastern side of the world though.

Thanks man, I'll look into it.

Any other suggestion or explainations why expansive is better than cheap?

Not a pro welder, but i bought a Lincoln Electric weldpack 140 HD. Bought it to learn and had a lot of rusts to repair on my project. Absolutely love it. Used argon and co2 mix for welds to be nice

Honestly I'd pony up for a diversion 165, i have the 180 and havent found something i can't wrld. Granted I'm a graduated welding student and i sort of outgrown it's lack of pulse and other fine tuning goodies, but it's a great starter machine, just a little over your budget, but I'm sure you can find a miller anywhere in the world.
$1,600 usd msrp and since you probably use euros, much cheaper

If you dont care for the name which it sounds like you dont, another good option ive heard about are HTP welders. And they ARE more in your budget.

Stick with a vender that is local to you. If you get a eastwood or something you have to pay to ship it back to the states and pay to ship it it back to you. That's $200 each way (roughly) and that one you found on ebay is no good.
I can hook you up with a longevity 200sx as it's a beast of a machine, but i would honestly look for something from a local vender.
Something like this is ok. Everlast uses the same vendor and has been having good luck with it.
TIG Welder 160AMP AC/DC 240V, Free foot pedal worth £178, 0% Finance Available | eBay
Thermal Arc 186 AC/DC TIG Welder System w/ Fingertip Control VCT-W1006301 NEW! | eBay

HTP aren't in stock, good luck getting one.

I saw one brand new in the local c list. Eastwood 200 ac/dc 625 bucks. Ive been holding out to get the Longevity sx200.
Eastwood only has a 1yr warranty right?

Nothing is wrong with cheap anything. It's your decision to spend your money as wisely as possible.

What welding machine do you have ^

I have a Miller 211 (DVI) for home garage and a Miller MIG and Sync 250 TIG at work.

My next home machine is a dynasty 280 (or 350 depending on how froggy i'm feeling - I like power for aluminum). As a personal note, there are some tools I always skimp on and some I never skimp on. Welders are in the latter category for me.

You needs need to know there is no warranty on a used machine.
I could buy an Eastwood or thermal arc or whatever today and sell it tomorrow there is no warranty.
Eastwood screwed me on this.
Same with thermal arc.

Gamble: Just sent a msg to the guys at Longevity about a 200sx. Idk why, but i HAVE to get a TIG asap. I just know theres a million things i could build and have use for it all the time. Just got my workbench built today. Its so damned cold the heater barely gets my shop to 50* tho LOL.
