Turbo sax did a great job there are more than enough information there plus a lot more with pics, I moved mine into my dsm before I learned a lot, wasn't too bad.

Got both my fenders off today. I am going to finish taking out the engine bay harness tomorrow and finish labeling connectors.

So you pull the bay harness first? Or both at the same time?

Got both fenders off and most of the connecters labeled. Going to order a factory service manual. So have been looking on eBay nothing catches me eye though. So if someone can help me find one that will be great. I am going to try and get the rest of it out today will keep you updated. Thanks

Simple look at the FAQ section on this page produced this:

Honestly, with all the questions you're asking, it sounds like you're looking for/expecting a step-by-step tech article on how to do this including what bolts to remove and how long to lengthen certain wires. Hint - you won't find one. The thread by Eric and the other two tech articles contain a ton of info. Read through Eric's thread numerous times, take notes, and start to visualize where stuff is in the car.

The next step is to actually start taking stuff apart. Take a ton of pictures and label everything. Once you get it apart, it'll start to make more sense.

Then figure out how much effort you want to put into it and go. It'll be as simple or complicated as you want to make it.

But we can only hold your hand so much. When asking questions, make sure you've searched and read threads/the FSM before you post. Based on your questions at this point, I'd suggest not doing it as some of them are dead simple, have already been answered, and show you haven't even tried anything yet to help yourself first.

Yea i ordered a 2g service manual. And I am labeling still all connecters in bay. I am hoping to start pulling the harness out tomorrow. I got me a not book today to write in and take notes.

I do have to read things 3 or 4 times. I might need to ask also but i find my answer or get a answer to my question.I don't mean to be a pain.

I'm coming up on the last leg of putting my fusebox in the cabin and changing most of my ecu harness, and can only say to take your time. Do one thing at a time, cut-crimp-solder one wire before cutting Another. Getting ahead if yourself is easy if your not careful.

Both sides of the fuse box harness will need to be lengthened to reach from inside. I easily added 100'+ of new wire between both harnesses, but eliminated more than double that by getting rid of everything I don't use.

The ECU harness is easier and I'd suggest to start with that one. Once its finished then open up the chassis harness. Its a big job for sure but I heavily used ideas and advice from Eric (turbosax) and anthony (blurred talon).

I'm working kind of slow since its cold but I have a solid 40 hours into the project since late October. I figured if it got done right this time, I wouldn't have to mess with it again.

I am going to take all the time i need. i am in no rush. Also did you use the deauch crimpers to relocate your box?

And what do you mean both sides lengthened?

Do you have a length they need to be extended? And the more time i spend the better it will come out? And what harness should i start on first? Thanks

Oh almost forgot i got my 1995 eclipse service manuals for Body and chassis also Electrical. And i got a compete fuse box with all wiring stock that is going to be a donor harness. Thanks

I want to know what plugs these are. I got a used harness to use with my one in my car. I also am having a hard time with the driver side to get the wires out. Any tips?

I got some better ones here i hope. These go into the passanger side i think.

The bottom one looks like it goes to the cigarette lighter harness, the top one looks like it goes to a relay of some sort, maybe the fuel pump relay in the console.

Ok thanks i was just wondering because i have never seen them and my car on the harness it dont have any of those connecters.

also i am having some trouble on the driver side connecters for getting them were they connect in the dash. Any tips? I don't know if i should remove dash will it be easier?

Here is a picture of the harness going into dash. And i can't get the black peace to come off. How can i get this rubber peace off to get the harness out?

The harness going through that big rubber grommet is taped to the grommet. Be careful and just undo the tape. There is a big white clip behind it-you've got to peel the edges of the big grommet and it will come off. If you want to re-use the grommet then you need to slide it off and feed the connectors through one by one.

I just cut the whole grommet and threw away my white plastic piece. I Fabbed up some stainless oval sheet the same shape as the hole and just bonded it to the car with jb weld. I've also got my 0 gauge battery wire going through, so I've got some extra stuff added that most people won't. Having a sheet metal "plug" there allows me to run my own size grommets or bulkhead connections as I please. I did a similar plug on the passenger side

Ok thanks. I don't know if i should remove my dash to unplug connecters on the inside i am having a hard time getting to them? Did you remove dash to get to connectors? Also i do the relocation can i do it a different way and not buy the expensive crimppers?

I didn't use crimpers on anything so I am not sure what you are talking about. I soldered everything as far as shortening or lengthening. I took my dash off, it's honestly not that difficult and it makes this job a hell of a lot easier. Plus, it gives you a very nice place to route your fuse box harness. With the dash off, all of the wires running to the driver side can be routed from the glove box back through a little opening bheind your A/C blower fan(against the inside firewall), around your main ductwork junction behind the center console, and then route it right next to the factory white plastic wire tunnel that goes behind behind your gauge cluster. This will make for a much cleaner install that no one will ever see.

Those plugs under the driver side dash are a pain no matter what-but the dash off will make them easier to unplug.

I've spent countless hours on mine getting everything just right-but it's also something I don't ever want to have to go back in for because I didn't do something quite right.

Buy a soldering iron and learn how to use it. Butt connectors have no place in a job like this.

Alright i am taking the dash out. I took it out once this year but put it back.

My questions are if u keep your heating but don't have no a/c what can be removed with dash out? And also if i remove my heating will it be more easier?

And crimppers i am talking about are the Dutch crimmpers. I just want to solder and lengthen wire. I got a used harness to lengthen wires i need to.

The only reason you'd need the expensive crimpers is if you plan on adding more plugs in the harness to make it quick disconnect/easier to work on in the future (like turbosax2 did). Otherwise, solder all connections.

I don't think you can remove anything if you're asking in regards to the ducting/black boxes behind the dash. The blower unit sits at the very end of the chain (heater core -> cooling unit -> blower motor) and you'd want to keep that if you have either heat or A/C. If you want to run with not heat or A/C, you can take out all the units behind the dash.

Yea i started on dash this morning. I made progress and almost got it out. Just need a few more hours and it is out. I am just taking my time and putting everything in bags that needs bags. I hope to have it out tonight or tomorrow.

I also am trying to make my mind up if i should take the heating out i have a/c out?

I left mine all in, but the ac stuff is all gone keep the heat you never know when youll need It unless its only a track car.

Yea i just don't know were i would put fuse box if i left it in. And i wold like keeping it. But don't need it.

Also i am on last connector it is on left side of dash. I had trouble with this on last time. I will put a pic up. It is the one above fuse box. Sorry my camera don't work good

This is the ABS ECU connector.
The bulk of the wiring removed in this job is from the ABS itself, there's a TON of wires that relate to the ABS.

The only reason you'd need the expensive crimpers is if you plan on adding more plugs in the harness to make it quick disconnect/easier to work on in the future (like turbosax2 did). Otherwise, solder all connections.

Solder for sure, do not half ass this job with butt crimps. A good 35W Weller soldering iron is less then $50. I also recommend Kestor brand solder not that crap at the parts stores. Go to an Electronics store and they will set you up.

You can pull the cooling unit out of the box under the dash.

Digikey is a good source for purchasing things like solder, soldering irons, etc. Search for KestEr, not Kestor, and it will come right up.

While you are buying things from digikey, get some adhesive lined heatshrink to cover the solder splices. Soldering weakens the wire and can often result in breaks right at the solder joint if you don't properly reinforce it.

I wouldn't recommend cut/solder if there is a cleaner way to shorten the wire. Cut at one end and replace the terminal would be ideal. Sometimes it can be tough to find the interior terminals though. I think if its the ones going to the ECM, there are sources like Mouser that carry them.

Ok thanks for the tips for solder and yea i am going to get heat shrink this wont be a half ass job. I want to to it once the right way and learn and don't rush just take my time.

And thanks blurred talon and brads. I am still trying to get the last connectors were it runs in to driver side. I took dash out. It has been alot easier. Any tips how i can get these connectors.
