I certainly plan on upgrading to the T-25 in the near future, almost have enough saved up for her.

:pray:I will pray for it and your engine...given your mods something will die a horrible death LOL

You would probably need one on each exhaust runner....

I do enjoy your comment though..

All it took to trash my T-25 was a full 3" exhaust upgrade, and a 120 second WOT to top speed. Shaft broke in half, XS power tubular manifold was glowing bright red, and a smoke screen to block the daytime sun. upgraded to a small 16G with an EVO3 ported turbine housing. It spools about as fast as the ole T-25 with double the flow. Have yet to reach its true potential, cant wait..

I know you guys are joking around, but as you know if as I wrote, on a stock or mild setup that does not rev too high the T-25 IS a good pick for a turbo.

Ok, ok so may I ask what turbo anyone would recommend on a bone stock 2G?

I know a 14b would be a good option, but anything larger would require mods right?

The cost of a 14b and installation kit is not to be over looked.

With any setup the turbo has to be sized for the application.

I would not call a s16G junk because it could not handle a 2.4 stroker on E85, with 2000 cc injectors, set at 40 psi of boost .... .etc

T28's have a good track record on 2.0L's

Big T28 + 660s and an old Greddy/Apexi/smaller FMIC with DSMLink can be a pretty nice street car at around 350 crank.

IMHO, the T-28 is one of the most under appreciated turbos in the DSM community. I had one (FPBig T-28) on my car for a while and it was a blast. Plus, it's most stock appearing turbo you can get for a 2G

Lol, don't compare a S16G to a T25. The T25 is suitable only for a bone stock car, and even then a 14b completely outclasses it. The T25 is KNOWN for being unreliable and weak. Just because yours lasted you the 200k you say it has doesn't mean they're all gems.

A t28 is good if you want to surprise someone after they looked under your hood, but otherwise a 14b is cheaper for the same performance. IMO I think the installation kits are a waste of money. I've ran a 14b and 16g and all I needed was a j-pipe. Stock 1g oil feed line and stock oil return.

I don't think I compared a T25 with a s16G. I compared the applications.

It is probable that a s16g or 14b would have lasted just as long or longer on my car, if it would have came with one.....but it did not.

It is not my intention to put down any turbo....My intention is to describe my experience with the T-25. No I would not rely on it if I were boosting beyond its capabilities. Nor would I rely on any turbo that was abused by boosting beyond its capabilities.

Today, with synthetic being readily available and zinc additives to replace the additives that were in oil in the 90s the turbo should be very well lubed and last quite a while.

Not exactly. There's only a handful of oils that have considerable levels of Zinc and Phosphorous (ZDDP), a few of which are conventional. Thanks to increasing emissions requirements, the vast majority of oils on the shelf (both conv and synth) have very low levels of ZDDP.

But that's exactly what people are referring to. The T25 is prone to catastrophic failure even when running stock boost and religiously maintained. On the other hand, MHI turbos probably the most heavily abused factory units in the world. It's not rare to see them dish out 20-30psi and still last for years.

Did someone say T25 lamp? :D

I really have nothing to back this thought up, but I wonder if t25 failures stem from an oil restrictor? I converted my t25 feed line to a ss line without a restrictor (when I didn't know better), and it's been boosting fine at 18psi since.

...knock on wood...
