There is absolutely nothing wrong with v3 lite, I started with it too and the only reason I went to v3 full was for the boost by gear option. You can even run SD with lite, although that is neither here nor there. No charge to assist and I am on the east side. I not a professional mechanic, I just work on these cars because I love them so. In fact I'm headed over to fwbt's house now to help him with his 1g. Can't wait to get his beast back on the road!

maybe we could get together this weekend i live on the east side to off montwood and lomaland, i mite get speed density later but for now id like to just get it lined out with maf, i need to replace the clutch soon but it should hold enough to get it tuned,i appriciate any help and i might be looking for help when i do the clutch i need an engine hoist and would love to have the extra help

I'm working this weekend, maybe on Friday? I'm off pebble hills and Saul kleinfeld.

I don't have a hoist but the good news is you don't need one, just a jack to drop the transmission.

I need to get speed density soon, I'm trying to degree my cams while my motor is out but not doing very good LOL. DSMlink is next, along with a clutch, but buy both is $1000+. I'm sure you are going to have to help me walk though mine Nate.

No problem man! I actually just saw your picture degreeing the cams in the "what did you do today" thread. I've never done that before but I did save this link awhile back for in case I ever did, check it out if you haven't already: 4G63 Camshaft Degreeing

friday would be good around 1 or so would work good for me what time works for you? and also could you come to my house im new to the area and think ot would be easier that way....and i didnt know you could drop the tranny like that i thought you had to pull it up. sounds like your way would be much easier and quicker

How did I miss this thread? If you have a MAF tuning Link closed loop is stupid easy. As long as you have the the right stuff to do it. (ie. wideband). I've done my fair share of trans drops (FWD and AWD) I hate having to try to balance the trans on a jack while keeping everything in check. Invariably I end up setting it on my chest and benching it in... FWIW, the best way I've found is strap it to a hoist and lower it out. I have a hoist so it's nothing for someone to PM me and I'll do my best to give them a hand.

Hey Jim, He doesn't have a wideband and apparently his car is down now due to the clutch so we weren't able to get any tuning done.

Sounds like you just need a bigger jack, LOL. I've always done it that way without issues. Of course it's always nice to have an extra set of hands either way.

IIRC, you don't *NEED* a WBO2 for a closed loop tune since V3 would just use the narrowband sim. Gear, you got a fairly stock car, getting a good safe tune isn't all this voodoo with Link. Actually the videos on Link are a great resource for getting that closed loop tune down. In all honesty, as long as there are no boost leaks and the BOV is recirc'ed, I'd get the clutch fixed and sport a stock tune till you can get the supporting mods.

FWIW, I'm off work till Tues and my paint doesn't get here till Tuesday anyways, but I'll load up the rip kit in the truck and give ya a hand if you want.

i would appritiate any help i plan on starting the tranny monday if you wana help id be very thank full...im pretty sure i dnt have boost leaks but i am running a open bov but havent had any proplems with it..i am getting an innovate lc 1 im ordering it tomorrow so ill have that soon

If its a fwd tranny, you dont need anything but your bare hands to drop it, or put it back in. Even my skinny ass can manage that. If its an awd then forget it... A cherry picker makes the job for either instance a cake walk. However the 2g's take a little bit more to get the trannys out. Make sure you have something underneath the engine to support it once you remove the 3 transmission mounts.

Also don't forget to get your flywheel resurfaced, and make sure they step it correctly.

my fly wheel was toast LOL it was cracked from the heat...i bought a new fly wheel and a comp stage 3 clutch
