SO FVck the Haters. they are all running around swinging off the balls of others who have done the same exact thing. Not me, I dont follow footsteps I LEAD my own path and make my own path. SO first off I would like to thank a couple of my sponsors! Drew Jones at RCI and Red Jack Racing. Precision PSI, Stroud, SW Racecars and Kirkey Racing. Shyts getting real in here. We are talking a perfectly setup 1g ready to rip that 14b to shreds. In a 2000 LB car! Let the flaming begin blah blah blah. But I am taking my 1g 14b into the 10's and making a record NOBODY with an AWD will break for a very long time. Anyways here are some updates on the car that has been laughed at for the past few months.
^^^^^^^^^^
Here's what one of our fellow 14b contenders(well, maybe) has to say. Wonder who he's referring to? Hmmm...
His 'sponsors' should be proud...
Thoughts ?
WEIGHT
It used to be an integral part to help 60' times but as stiff as my car is with the JIC's, I don't think it's necessary.
Now, if in fact 60' times were to suffer, I'd obviously toss it back on. It's a super heavy, solid bar.
Almost 30 lbs. if I remember correctly.
I don't run any sway bars in either of my awd auto cars, daily driver included. The oem rear swaybar & end links are 10.8lb on my scale, the front is 9.6lb
I use the front swaybar mount on the control arms for a handy spot to attach the limit straps.
Its not all about the weight......
I would put maybe 20% on weight.
I'm trying to get the point across that it is in fact not JUST about weight like everyone seems to think.

I'll never understand why people will do that. Why call out the record to that extent with an empty shell and zero attempts? I can see speculating this or that for discussions sake, but come on man.
I don't get it, as for paving his own path, we have all discussed high compression, aluminum rod motors like he's planning, we've talked alternative fuels, forward facing manifolds....on and on etc. Most of came to the conclusion that they would be interesting to try, but none of us have the funds like that to throw at a "14b record" that is only meaningful to a select few anyways. If he has the funds to do that more power to him, but don't come in here and act like it was your idea and that you know it all and dismiss the people who are currently the fastest as unintelligent. But, thanks for finally realizing we were right, power to weight is the key.
Who has a heater I'm going to go work on my car!
zero attempts
This is the big one for me...
I haven't posted much in this thread, but I'm wondering if any of you AWD guys have considered temporarily making your car RWD to brake the 14b record? I would assume (since power is lower, around 300whp) 2 slicks on the back of the car would easily hold the power... (just my 2 cents, hopefully I don't come off as a moron, like some other people in this thread)
Thought i would post up a little update on my 1G:
Have not set any records with the 14b but am driving it to school, grocery store, post office.. for what that's worth.. hehe
The next mod is going to be a Radio even though the exhasut provides enough good tunes for my liking, especially at a stop light.
Big props to ALL the 14b guys having fun out there!!
In that case how about a 4G swapped colt or older rwd galant with a D50 trans with the starion gears. Then its still manual, rwd and a lot of fun. Or even a mighty max 4-linked. Thats how id do it.
It is to bad some of us can only enjoy our cars during the race season at the track. But it sure does give me something to look forward to now.
I don't think I could do the swap if it wasn't another Mitsu product using mostly Mitsu parts. It feels kinda like cheating.
