So I've been building the car through out the years and last year I had ran the car with a PTE6262 just to compete with the local fwd honda guys. Got bored and decided that I wanna take over this very old record. Over the years I have been gathering parts knowing that some day I would give it a stab at chasing this record. So before the last race of the year 2012 I took all the parts I had and added a few more and took the car out to the track. The day ended very well for me on my first attempts to run down this record. As it stands the record is 10.84@126

The break down on the car. It weighs in at 2055lbs with driver and full 1 gal cell. Other stuff includes:

Eagle/Weisco bottom end
SS valves/Manley S&R
Crower 416 cams
Fp manifold
Extrude honed 1G manifold
31X12X3.5 short route intercooler
Turbolab rebuilt and ported 14B w/E316G port match exhaust housing
Custom external dump and 2.5" up pipe
Modified headlight ram air intake
External walbro 255lph
Pte780 injectors
ECMLINK V3 with SD
Stock 1G fwd trans w/welded 2G FWD diff
Brian Terhune 1G/2G axles
Frontline Fabrications Brake booster delete
Modified Frontline Fabrications catch can
act2600 w/6-puck
Ground control coilover
KYB adjustable rear struts
1" shorter koni adj. front struts
Modified front hub w/ 1/2 arp wheel studs
24.5x8.5x15 M&H slicks mounted on weld 15x9" wheels
Summit Fast Five 15x4" Rear wheels
M&H 24.5x3.6x15" rear tires

So with my first outting I managed to hit an 11.3@121. Mid 1.6 60'
Not bad for my first time out. It puts me at #2 on the 14B attempt list. I have a really good baseline on what I need to do to the car and some changes that need to be made.

I have new pics and updates as this thread grows and I get closer to getting back to the track.

I completed what I needed and I reset the record.

It was a bit different driving a welded diff fwd compared to a heavy awd. The awd felt like auto pilot. Thanks again

Bad Ass! You sir, have a new subscriber :D

Are you running stock suspension?

Oh no not stock suspension. Poly bushings front and rear. I'm running a $30 set of eBay coilovers and kyb agx struts all the way around. I am in the process of doin a few mods and I'll get to that when I update next.

Ah, I have a 14b on the way, so this is inspirational for me :) I'm planning on running some (really) stiff rear spring rates when I get to it. With some slicks, I'm hoping I can cut some 1.6's like you man...amazing. Was that on pump gas?

nice times so far. With the car that light it shouldn't be too bad breaking into the 10s. Welded diff on the FWD tranny? I hope you don't break an axle! LOL.

Ya, was surprised how consistant the car was with its 60' times and only doin first gear burnouts. The only reason I had those 1.7s was because the car was yanking timing through first gear. Think I have a fix for that tho. No way was it pump gas. I was using Q16.

Such a tough job just to get those few tenths. Gonna take a perfect day of the right weather and great traction. The diff is welded. I don't think the trans would hold for very long on an open diff. I will find the limits of these axles LOL. Thus the reasoning I chose to run a 2g fwd trans is that the axles are much bigger. I hope the will last for awhile with a light car and 1.5 60' times.

Ever thought about going to a smaller intercooler/piping? Now that you're not pushing as much boost as the 6262 you can pickup peak boost a few 100 rpm's sooner if you match your IC piping and FMIC to the turbo without intke temps going up. You do that + meth injection and I bet that'd be enough with as close as you are. GL :thumb:

I'm only on 2.5" piping now. Not sure goin smaller is gonna do any good. Gotta figure I'll need to be able to move enough air for 300-350hp. I will have to look into getting the overall intake temps down since they rise pretty quick. Even with a cold air intake there higher than I wanna see.

No real rule there with the housing. Right now I'm on a B16G ported housing until I get one of my evo3 housings fixed.

This is an awesome build.. I wanna pick up a fwd 1g to do something like this to.

Nice thing about this is you can run the car and mod as you go. Keeps it simple and fun at the same time. Just always try to best your last track outing.

Worked on the car for a few hours last night. Since I got the back of the car pretty much where I want it weight reduction wise, I decided to get back to working under the hood.

I decided that I needed to change out all my pulleys and timing gears for lighter stuff. Even replaced the balance shaft gear and ditched the P/S pulley. I was surprised that I was able to knock off another 5lbs. Not only is it 5lbs lbs, but its 5lbs of rotational weight gone. Should free up a few extra horses.

What are your thoughts on a bigger hotside to max the 14B, Justin?

Lower drive:boost ratio seems to help on all setups looking to maximize power.

Just my 2psi

Right now im on a ported 7cm big 16G housing. My next outing I should be all setup to log backpressure. I will figure it out after that. Trying to keep the cost down as much as possible. Most the stuff I have or thats on the car i've been saving over time.

I think that I kinda need to treat this like an N/A build since the last half of the track the turbo pretty much runs out of steam. So maybe this will need a little extra backpressure to keep things goin.

Ok so I had this nice piece made by Andrew K. from frontline fabrications. I've have him make a lot of really nice custom stuff for my cars. I mainly wanted this for the 6 lbs of weight to lose. It also clears up some space in the bay. I wouldnt do this if I was auto though.

I really had to toss the pros/cons of this one. For me knowing the 6lbs was just hanging out there, I couldn't let it happen. We will see how it goes with this master. Nice thing is I have other options.

Ok, maybe I'll snag one...! Is that the 3G master? I have no clue...
