I bought this car 2 years ago and had all intentions of just having a nicely done street built car with 4-500hp.I got the 400whp, and well, here I am. After having a close friend (wvturbo2) turn his street car into a strictly strip car, I decided it was time for mine to follow in line. Sold off pretty much everything in/on the car and I am starting fresh. I will try to update over the winter as frequently as I am able to, and I am sure wvturbo2 will toss in some pictures too when I am not able to.

Build list:

Motor:
6 bolt block, half filled
Manley Turbo Tuff I beams
Wiseco HD pistons
Kiggly girdle
ARP hardware

Head:
Will be done by Force Engineering (after 1st of the year)
GSC-S3 cams
Kiggly springs and retainers
Kiggly HLA

Auto Transmission:
Kiggly billet diff support saddle
Kiggly front clutch pack
Kiggly 2g flexplate kit
Sinister Stall (bought this a year ago, if we dont have luck with it I will be getting a Precision Industries converter)

Turbo setup:
4294 (got a good deal on this but may switch if I can sell it)
Custom deMartino Fab exhaust manifold
Custom deMartino intake manifold
Q45 throttle body
Air to water intercooler
1680cc injectors
Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump
Direct port nitrous

Misc:
Chromoly tubed frontend
BC coilover with customer spring rates
10pt rollcage
AEM ems
Weld wheels 15x8
3 gallon fuel cell
Ratchet shifter
Kirkey seat
Carbon hood

That's everything I can think of off the top of my head, I am sure i will add more as I think of it. Here are the pics so far of the progress.

Here it is the night we started tearing into it

First things first, off with the front!

And here we have bumpers and fenders on getting a plan for the front end

Next we started on the interior. Sound deadening, junk under dash, misc. panels all gone and dash sitting back in there

Awesome cant wait to see this done !

Awesome I just got my auto fwd running again. Looks like you have a very nice parts list and should be putting down some good numbers when it's up and running.

Nice build! Can't wait to see how the front end turns out. I'm doing the same but haven't chopped mine off yet.

Thanks! Ive followed your car for a while now as well as several other fwd cars. Hopefully I can put the numbers I make down and run some decent times.

Thanks man! Im nervous with the front end but have faith in my fab guy, haha. I was looking at your build for ideas on weight loss, needing to get mine down some more!

I'll be taking another couple hundred out now that it's back from paint, trying to get it down to 2,000 lbs. I'm assuming you are going to weld plates on each side with a threaded bolt coming through from the back so you can detach it?

Woah! Couple hundred more? Please let me in on where. And yea, making it detachable for easy motor/trans removal.

Chromoly rear subframe, aluminum control arms, custom front upper control arms, billet magnus hubs, scalloped rotors with custom brakes. I'm also going to be removing more metal from inside the car including the majority of the dash bar.

Ah, ok. Yea, my dash bar is going to be getting reduced as well, if not replaced. I'll be following your build for sure.

Thanks!

No major updates, but we got some stuff done. Was able to get the mock up motor with auto trans in the car. Now we will be able to tighten everything down and start fabbing up the the front end along with eventually doing to exhaust manifold. Also, picked up what I think was a steal, a $50 carbon hood (clear coming off, but going to be painted). Also borrowed some matching Weld wheels for the back to get an idea of what I need when I purchase them shortly.

Carbon hood in place

Weld wheels (will have different tires when I buy mine)

Little bit of work has been done. Between finals and work, been slow working lately. Cut out the rear floor/tire area and put in an aluminum insert. Rear crash bar has been removed and we got an idea for the parachute mount. Also got in my new seat. here are the most recent pics:

Nice build!

Do you plan on running wheelie bars to help with traction? I know even with slicks 500whp fwd DSM is a wheel spinning machine.

Looks good! If you do a fuel cell you can get some pretty sick access doors here for your aluminum panel: Fuel Access Door (Surface Mount) (Carbon)

Fuel cell is gonna be up in front of drivers wheel

Thanks! No real plan in immediate future, though they have crossed my mind. Gonna see what can be done without them.

Made some more progress on the car. Cut up the passenger door to remove crash bar, window tracks, etc. Took aluminum and made some door panels for it. Had to start a couple inches lower than the top of the door because if the curvature of the door up top

Next was the rear bumper. Took what Keith Kinowski did with his white 2g awd and applied it to mine. I didnt know how "speed holes" would look with a 2gb bumper so I went with how his was cut.

More to come over the next month. Cage was ordered today and chromoly tubing for the front end came in earlier this week.

Thanks,
Ian

Looking good as usual. I want to do this but I like my car being streetable still. One day I will make it into a drag only car. Keep up the good work

Thanks! And I know that feeling of keeping it streetable versus track only. It took some extreme encouragement to get me to cut the front end. Once I did that though, I felt fine know street days were gone.

Been slow going on the car, but got the solid mounts done. In about the next week things will really be picking up. Manifold material is about to be purchased, cage will be done, and front end will be done.

Got some more stuff in, along with the seat mounted. More to come!

Big box is the new radiator, little box is small battery and battery tray

Got the Kirkey welded to custom brackets and then bolted in.

Getting the chromoly tube front done. It's a little different then you see from most, but this allows for easier mounting options for me.

Next up, we mounted the fuel cell. Sits snug in front of the passenger tire without worry of any rubbing at all.
