Broken lug nuts

Ok... I have replaces two hub bearings on the driver side of my car, the front and the rear, both oem. The rear I replaced when I got the car in January or February, at that time I went around the car and torqued all of my lug nuts, most were fairly loose.

I haven't removed the wheel since I had replaced the rear hub assembly and one of my lug nuts is just gone. Same with the right rear hub bearing, it's just gone. They have both just snapped off.

I replaced the front left hub assembly about two months ago and torqued the lug nuts again. I always make sure to thread the lug nuts on as far as possibly by hand to prevent cross threading so I know that wasn't an issue. But when I went to remove my front left wheel one of the lug nuts just snapped off with ease.

Is this a common problem with oem hub assembly's, it kinda worries me that the next time I launch my car, I am gonna launch a wheel instead.

Does anybody else have this problem, I am thinking about drilling my hubs out and replacing the studs with bigger ones, maybe going with some extended moroso studs that are used in drag cars.

Btw: I live where rust is minimal to none.

If the studs are snapping just get some replacements. Replace them all. No it is not a common problem. Not sure what happened to yours. What wheels are you running and are they hub centric?

You could be fracturing them when you are torquing them down. How many ft lbs are you tightening them too?

They are American racing and are hub centric.

Hard to say what happened in the past. I would just replace the studs. Easy to do.

Two of the assembly's are new ones that I installed. Only one of the other hubs has it broken. I may just upgrade all the studs and lug nuts for peace of mind. I was just wondering if they were weak and just a common problem.

If you're breaking new ones look to your wheels or the lug nuts. Something isn't right.
