Hey everyone,
I am hoping that my issue isnt too serous but I have a feeling like it is.
The other night I got back to my car (92 2000GTX Turbo) and went to turn it over and it started to make a horrible noise from somewhere under the hood and wasn't idling properly. I quickly turned it off and took a quick peek under the hood. I didn't see too much that could be causing it so I turned the car over again and looked under the hood. Yet again making a horrible clacking/ grinding noise(hard to explain). I still couldn't find anything wrong. I turned the car off and opened up the upper timing belt cover and it was grinding on the plastic cover.... What would cause the timing belt to shift over like that? From what I could see and feel the belt still had good tension on it and looked in perfect shape.
I got the car towed back home and have started to pull apart the car to get at the larger timing belt cover. Any possible things to look at? From what I can tell the Cam timing is still spot on. How much damage do you thing was caused?
I will be checking out the rest of the timing tomorrow so any advise would be awesome.
