I am at 2300 miles!

Just did another transmisson oil change.

Then I took off the air intake to inspect the turbo, I noticed a small amount of oil on the turbo inlet. This makes since because I am running 20w-50 oil, with no balance shafts, no oil squirters, and without a ported OFH. So.... I am sending to much oil pressure to the turbo so oil is being pushed threw the seals. This is a very small amount of oil, literally a couple drops. So to combat this problem I have ordered an FP turbo filter. It arrived today so that will be installed as a restrictor. The orfice has been drilled out to 0.073" So with this filter/restrictor the turbo should not be pushing oil past the seals anymore.

I have developed a rip in the boot of the driver side CV axle, so I will need to change out that axle soon.

for some reason I thought this was the car that was for sale for 15k+, glad its not bc it would suck to see it sold.

So do you have a non-turbo short block? Or are oil squirters just removed from a turbo short block??

You are partially correct, the car that is for sale for 15k is 95eclipser car. Which is a car that has same if not more work put into it as mattasi eclipse. Either way, these are probably two of the cleanest sliver gsx on this forum.

I will never sell it :hellyeah:, well that's what I say right now anyways.

Turbo block with the squirters removed. When the motor was being build they plugged them, I wanted more oil pressure to the rod bearings, and other parts of the motor.

Thank you, I'm glad that others can enjoy seeing this car "grow up".

I got the FP oil filter/restrictor installed last night. All went well, no leaks. I changed the oil last night also. So when I change the oil again it will be really interesting to see what this turbo filter picks up.

Looks like your weather seals are all in good condition.. did you replace them? If so where from?

I have put a few hundred miles on the new FP filter/restrictor for the turbo. I have no more oil getting pushed past the turbo seals. When I took of the air intake there was no oil in the pipe:hellyeah: So the turbo is running great and is being oiled at a reasonable PSI.

Well now that I have restricted some oil flow to the turbo, my crank case pressure has went up :| enought to push out my dipstick when in boost. So to combat this problem I am ordering a Calan catch can. This should fix this problem.

I did a boost leak test and I have a HUGE boost leak at the #4 injector seal. The seals themselves are new, and the fuel rail is torqued down to specs, so I wasn't sure why I was getting the boost leak in that spot. Well,.. Upon looking closer at things with a flashlight you can see a spot were the fuel injector is touching the Intake manifold and not letting the injector sit properly. So to fix this I will need to take off the intake manifold to grind down a bigger spot in the flange so that the injectors no longer hit. So much fun!! Seems like the list with these cars just never ends.

So long story short, I have been driving it pretty easy untill I fix the huge boost leak and the shooting dipstick problem.

i just read your whole thread and wow so much work thats an awsome build. and for the guys who kept you going. great dsmers. overall great work man.
Thank you!

Took a break from the computer for a while. Nice job maintaining your DSM.
For sure, it's always one thing or another I guess.

Hey man, just read up on your build and it's one of the cleanest, well done builds I've seen in a long time. You really took your time and it shows. Kudos!

Thanks man!

UPDATE: Parts have been ordered from JNZTuning.com to fix the injector boost leak, Calan catch can has been ordered. I still need to order fittings and tubing for the catch can though.

lookin really good man, love your build, we definitly need to meet up!!!! i just dropped the doh on a shep stage 3 trans, how you liking yours? i just blew my 3rd 4th :( got an HX40 though so im hoping for a completely new feel! im at 5500 miles about now and oil changes every 750. stoked that i blew the trans, ready to get some good launches down with that 4 spyder! you know your making power when your trans shatters :p

Yea man, I am down to kick it! Haha yea you have lots of power to break shit on those big turbos. I would love to go for a drive in a HX40 car, after it's all tuned up properly and what not, bet it hauls ass.

I love my stage-4 sheppard trans. When you first start driving with it, when it has zero miles it will feel a bit notchy and sometimes hard to get into gear, so don't just automaticly think that it is your clutch system or anything. You might need to double clutch to get it into first gear, but after 2-3Kmiles it will shift like butter and as fast as you can shift it. Also, it will go right into 1st or reverse the first time you try, without needing to bump other gears. It's a bad ass transmission.

That video out at Fall Creek? Very nice car/build. Would love to catch up some time and pick your brain on build ideas since I am just beginning the journey on my 95 GSX.

Update:

I have fixed the boost leak I had at the injector seal.

Did another oil change but this time after the oil had drained, I checked out the new FP oil line filter to see what it had caught and to make sure it wasn't cloged or something, but to my surprize it was clean. I cleaned it with gas anyways. I guess the Napa oil filters are doing their job and not letting any debris go to the turbo!

I lowered the battery down to the subframe. Lowering the battery took some work, but I am very happy how it turned out. Actually it is more secure than it was before, it doesn't move at all now. The full size red top optima battery fit down there, I was able to lower that battery down about the height of another battery.

My calan catch can has arrived and so now I will move onto that project, I need to figure out were I want to mount it and then have a bracket welded onto the can. I should probably have them weld the bung into the FP intake at the same time the bracket is welded.

Some pics....

This is the FP black filter for the turbo oil line, it has been drilled out to 0.072" as a restrictor. Behind that is the heat shield I talked about eariler in this thread. It is a heat shield made from phenolic (circuit board material) that is black in color. It stops the exhaust from cooking my alternator in less than 500miles.

Updated Engine bay picture!

Really nice build

Yea out in that area. Thanks man! Yea man shoot me a PM. Did I see your car driving threw the burrito boy in springfield yesterday (sunday)?

I have ordered fittings from summit racing for the catch can! Should be here next week.

I got a brand new driver side front axle waiting to go in. The OEM axle currently installed has developed a rip in the boot so I will replace it with this new axle and take this opportunity to learn how replace a ripped boot on this axle. I guess I will need that special tool that crimps down the metal strap...

The car is at 3700 miles, and running great!

You and inare on the same track brother, i just oicked up a megan strut tower bar as well!!!! Still waiting in my shep trans but it's all paid for!! I am goig to do that subframe
Mount also, did you use the tech article on here? It doesn't look THAAT hard i habe a welder
So i might just
Modify my current hold down bracket :)
I'm at 5500 miles

Your car is super clean still very nice.
Ever think about polishing the fp intake? I tried it but didn't have a palm sander
To make it smooth LOL

My fittings for the catch can have arrived, but the -8an and -10an hose is on back order so the hose will be here in a couple weeks.

Not sure on the said artical, I just installed the new motor mounts from RRE.

I would polish all the aluminum, but on this car I want flat colors. Like flat black, and just plain silver dull aluminum color. Trying to stay away from shinny. I actually sanded down my strut bar with 600grit sandpaper to make it less shinny and more dull looking. Call me wierd, but I like the look.

i got the gun metal strut tower, well i asked for it and was sent a polished, oh well though i kind of like it. i did the battery subframe mount, its not bad, did you have issues with it staying flat cause of your fuel tank pressure relief hose? or do you still have your emissions crap. i like the battery down below but it is sort of unstable feeling, even though i have the tie down tight, it still isnt flat on the subframe due to that hose. im sure it will hold, just hope its not in teh way of the trans. :) we need to meet up man.

can i ask why you decided to feed your BB turbo from the OFH? now that i look at your profile it says you have an FP green, i was unaware those came in BB. unless you are just using a BB restrictor for some reason on a jb turbo?

The turbo is a JB turbo, people like me JB turbos that want a custom size restrictor will buy BB turbo restrictor and drill it out to the size we want. It's very common.

I have no emissions crap, and the battery doesn't move at all. It has lots of room from the trans and will sit flat if you put a tray under it perfectly. I reccomend that anyone try to do it. I felt like it was one of the best mods I have done. Ok only for that day, but still it was a good mod. haha

Yea the summer is a running out. Im sure there will be a meet soon.

ah yeah i should have known, i have a restrctor form my 6152 i was thinking about drillin out for the holset. you just talking about the plastic tray? you dont have a fuel vapor hose right below the tray? mine kind of sits funny on it but is secure. well i guess it doesnt always have a hose, but i put one on there so it could vent to the ground.

shep trans stage III comes friday, i wanna mod down to english maybe we could meet up there :thumb:
