Imo the tires are to small. I'd like to see my car with 225/40 or even 225/45

i don't see a point of running wider rims if you're not going to run wider tires. if you're going to run 225, get a 7" rim. if you have an 8" rim and you're not at least 245, you're doing it wrong.

Ok so i aabout to purchase some new rims. They are 18x8 with 35 offset. The shop is saying the biggest tire i can fit is a 215/40 onmy 95awd. That seems way too small to me. My goal is to autox with it in spring. Anyone have pics of 215/40's on their dsm?

What shop? Tire world? Because they don't know squat and are probably going off the stock rim, not an 18x8. For that size rim you'll want a 235-245 tire. But there are a bajillion threads on here explaining about that.

BTW- 18x8 is not a good size for racing.

I did look into the threads and checked out a chart someone posted saying the largest safe size was 215/50 for this offset. I believe i was running 225/45 17 dunlups on my gsx wheels on my previous dsm.

If you insist on autocrossing a 2G on 18s, you either go big (285s) and jack the car up, or you get 245/35/18s and keep the offset between 35 and 40. However, 245/35/18 Kumho XSs, for example, are much happier on an 18x8.5 than an 18x8. Something like the wheels off an Evo X GSR would be perfect, especially if they were powder-coated a dark gun-metal color and sitting in boxes in someone's cellar.

Personally I would get a different smaller rim with a better offset for autox but that's not an option for everyone. When I bought my car the previous owner had 215/35/18s on a 9 inch rim and those suckers were streached to hell! 215 on a 8inch rim still I think would be streached pretty good.
