I'm attempting to adapt the stock hardline fitting from the fuel feed located on the bulkhead to a -6 AN fitting as seen in this pic:
attachment.php

I'm planning on using the Earls Female Metric to AN Male 14mm x 1.5 to -6AN: EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts or the same item also here: 6AN Adapter to OEM Fuel Line/Sending Unit : JNZ Tuning

The problem is I'm finding conflicting info on whether or not this particular fitting is in fact an inverted flare fitting. Both Extreme PSI and JNZ tuning recommended this part to adapt the stock hardline to AN. However, if you look here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/bol...p-assembly-rail-question-2.html#post153027945 the moderator is basically saying the Earls fitting will not work. I just can't understand how this would not be a inverted flare fitting, and also be safe from leaks when Extreme PSI uses this fitting on their own fuel feed upgrade kits, not to mention both Extreme PSI and JNZ tuning are both advertising that it does in fact adapt the stock line properly----> EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts

I have searched and searched and have got conflicting info so far. Apparently R.C.I. sells the part also, but I don't want to order the part from R.C.I. because for one, I can't find it on their site and two, I'm placing a big order with Extreme PSI and want to just get it from them at the same time. The few threads I did find that were most helpful are linked below. So is anyone out there is using this particular Earls fitting with success? I just need someone to tell me from experience if the Earls fitting actually works without leaking, and is in fact an inverted flare fitting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not trying to bad mouth the shops but they are fiving very bad info on that. frank aka R.C.I aka former owner of F.I.C has been in business for years and has great service. You can call direct or one of has dealers

I have seen a few of those Earls fittings leak first hand. I have seen 1 person use one that didn't leak. The other 3, leaked. You need that other style of fitting, with the inverted flare to do it right and safe.

Hey guys thanks for the input. Very informative and helpful information, and especially thanks to ColtiXim for posting up that pic. That's exactly what I needed, and hopefully this thread will answer any questions regarding the Earls fitting in the future. So can one of you guys give me the part number for the R.C.I. fitting, or a link to where it is on the R.C.I website for purchase? Thanks again.

So I just got an email from Frank at R.C.I. This fitting is not offered on his website as of yet, but he said it should be soon. If you email him he returns your inquiries super fast. Here's a link to this fitting on his FB page: Wall Photos | Facebook

The fitting is a stainless steel Inverted Flare fitting 14mmx1.5 to AN -6 male adapter. They are a little pricey at 32 bucks a pop, but worth the piece of mind.

I sure wish I knew who manufaturered the fitting that RCI sells. I know its not any of the common AN fitting companies.

Extreme PSI doesnt actually say it's to connect to the pump assembly, although they certainly imply it by having it on their site. JNZ's description is completely misleading. If that Earls fitting seals, it's by dumb luck and would probably be short lived.

Thanks for posting that pic, ColtiXim. It will definitely come in handy for future inquiries. I edited your post to host it here just in case that link ever ends up dead. :thumb:

This is definitely true. In the description for https://www.extremepsi.com/store/product.php?productid=21516&cat=1559&page=1 Extreme PSI's site says "Includes -6AN Fuel Lab 818 Series Fuel Filter, necessary fittings to bolt up to stock fuel feed hard line, and stainless steel fuel feed upgrade kit with -6 AN fuel rail fitting. If it weren't for you disputing this fact I never would have questioned it. Thanks for your many posts insisting that none of the fittings readily available from the major manufacturers are actually NOT inverted flare fittings. If it weren't for your insistence, I never would have given the Earls fitting a second thought. I just ordered 2 correct inverted flare fittings from R.C.I so we will see how well they work when they get here.

Shoot me a PM if you still need the 14x1.5 Inv Flare to -6 male fitting! I might be able to do a little better on the price.

Yeah, it looks like that would work.

Sorry for dragging up the older, but I just wanted to verify my above post. I purchased these fittings one with a male end and one with a female end. The one with the female fitting that hooks up to the out line of the sending unit doesn't look like it seals hardly at all. It only threads in a couple of turns, BUT it does seal very well. The male one is in the inlet side of the filter.

So to some up these do work to convert your fuel line over to an fittings.

Thanks 99gst_racer, I wouldn't have bought them without your keen eye. I would've ended up spending twice as much as I did.

You are correct sir, they are getting a WTF email from me right now and a call on Monday to reinforce how much they suck. Was waiting on this to show up today to button up a very long build and was down to a few final things now I need to wait a few more days for the correct fitting to show up.

FML.

I just wanted to update this thread. The correct 14x1.5 inverted flare to -6 male fitting is now on RCI's website: Metric Fuel Fitting by Race Components Inc. . I'm sure it is available elsewhere, but this is just where I got mine. Not promoting for anyone, I just want to get the word out so everyone knows what fitting is right, and where one can be purchased.

I installed this fitting and it works great. No leaks and no worries: GST with PSI's build & restoration of 1813 | Galant VR-4 > General VR4 Discussions | GalantVR-4.org Mitsubishi Galant VR4 Forum
