Hey, so I bought some ACL Race bearings BNIB some months ago, and when I opened up the packaging the other day I found some of the bearings were scratched. I am still waiting to hear back from the vendor I bought them from, but what is your opinion on the condition of the bearings? Judging on the pictures, do you think they are useable or trash?

They are useable but I would get a new set while you have the motor apart now.

Just touch them with a wore out green schotch brite pad in some solvent to remove any small burrs.

Go long ways with the bearing face with light thumb pressure.

Rinse well with clean solvent or brake clean and go on with the build.

Time you get the short block built you will have more marks than that on the bearings.

Thats all I needed to hear :thumb: Thanks BogusSVO! I would demand replacements, but after almost a year and being SO close to finishing my rebuild, I am getting a tad impaitent :p

What he said. I think a lot of people would be surprised how knicked up bearings are when they are first put in and before initial startup. I guaranty, those marks will be gone within 5 minutes of run time.

I know and I bet you are.

I could probly go open 6 sets of new factory sealed bearings that are on my shelf right now and find simular marks on a couple bearings.

Looks like packagaing marks from the factory to me.
