Should have posted in the local forum early, so this is a double post.

Is Pina Motorsports still open? I cannot seem to get ahold of them, for over a week now.

Yes, I believe Andre is still open.
He can be difficult to reach but there are other options locally than Pina.

BOSS has been good to me.

Thanks for the references guys. I will keep those places in mind. But i really needed to speak with Andre, because he Built my engine and tuned my car, for the previous owner.

Had some questions regarding components etc.

I maybe able to help you out also if you give me some details about the car. I worked for Andre for a while. Feel free to give me a call.

+1 on ground vision, just got my car back and all i can say is GREAT JOB great people, i've been working with them for almost a year and not one regret. highly recommended, prices are competitive, and shop is very knowledgeable about this platform.

Probably super biased here, but I dropped about $10K on a build here a few years back and even though Pina had over a year to complete it, I ended up pulling my untuned, improperly turbo'd car out of their shop because I saw pictures of it in the back parking lot while they worked on other builds and heard stories of how one of the employees actually kept it at his house. This is not to mention the fact that the store got "robbed" while all my parts were waiting and when I had to pay someone else to rip the engine back down, several parts that I had shipped directly to Pina were nowhere to be found (cam gears, underdrive pulley, stage 3 clutch). Why had the engine failed? Oh, there was the matter of my idiot brothers not proprerly breaking in the engine, but also the matter of an inproperly plumbed turbo that had been spraying oil into the intake and the portfueler wasn't hooked up correctly....

How can you highly recommend over a shop you have never even worked with? Thats a bit of a tasteless recommendation bud.

To the OP, you give me a call and make a decision for yourself, not from some guy that's never even been here. And if you're really needing to get a hold of Andre, he gave me a call today, so shoot me a call and drop me your name/number and I'll get him the message if he's not answering his service line.

I don't want to turn this into a pissing competition between two performance shops, especially as the OP has yet to respond to his own thread.

Kyle, you're opinion is important and your experience with Ground Vision may have been great. For all I know that shop may be a great place to have a car serviced, modified, or any other automotive needs taken care of.

However, David makes and important point. I have spoken to you on a few personal occassions and as you know i'm highly associated with David and BOSS Innovations and being said there is no reason to compare the two shops; espeically when you've had no personal transactions with David or the shop itself.

For those looking for an explanation or a personal experience with BOSS Innovations I have plenty for you as I was once (and still am) was a customer and now a person actively helping David when needed.

I'm now leaving this thread.

I spent this whole last week just wrenching on my '76 Galant's 4g63t swap at BOSS Innovations..Good times. Traveling between Joke Harbor and Tacompton is a haul after a while.

I've actually never heard of Ground Vision, so I can't say anything on them. English is well known and more now with the Evo community. DSMs are fading away.

I would like to head down to David's new location and check out his shop. We will be heading down this summer to one of the meets. Time has been an issue lately. It seems there is a bigger Dsm following down south.

I appreciate the support, but there is no need to say one shop is better then another. What we do is relatively small operation with a few select customers. While I'm pretty sure Andre and I will never have any kind of business relationship I would like to think we can all get along as shops here in the Northwest.

I spoke with ground Vision on the phone yesterday. very helpful indeed. I will probably go with them because they are much closer to me. I don't want to drive my terribly tuned car all the way to Tacoma. I really only need a tune after all.

Thanks Boss, i will give you a call if i still cannot get A hold of Andre. I really need to the some info on my cars Build.

I am sure all the shops are very knowledgeable. I have no opinion yet as i just joined the DSM community and have only found out about these shops since i started this thread :)

I had a blast on the Colt, last week, with Tim :thumb:. Even went a step above too consider the build costs for him, since he's been so loyal to the shop and has jumped into such a big investment. I allowed Tim to wrench within the shop on things he was capable of doing, and jumped in and started the clock on things that would require myself, to save him money. Not many shops would do that.

Yes, the new shop is quite a change from the last time you came out this way. Definately alot easier to get into without that 512 traffic, LOL, but yes, I agree.
Andre and I have been really good friends for a long time. When it comes to business, he has his and I have mine, and we run them differently ... yet if he needs something, I'm always willing to help as I am with other shops. We don't try and compete with each other.

Totally understandable.

i wasnt trying to bash the shop, i guess its what i have heard from others, sorry for that. im just partial cause these guys have been with my every step of the way for everything i need dsm related, and even were kind enough to take calls and txts after hours with no pissing and moaning. david, not saying you dont have a good shop. but there are buzz's around the net of prefered shops. pina seems to actually be on the lower end of that food chain, but again i have not been there either i just read alot. one of these days id actually like to make it to all of the dsm shops in western washington to see what everyones doing.

Just 3 now (4 when I had the GVR4), my truck and 77 Wagon are my daily drivers, well not the wagon right now till I have the time to figure out why it's misfiring.

Like they say, opinions are like assholes ... everyone's got one. Good or bad, make the decision for yourself by taking the time to stop by and talk to a shop. If we were not a prefered shop, we would not take the time to go and open a bigger location for our customers, and be in the process of getting more equipment to help service them.

i asked boss for a part they posted on clist...
acted like they had no idea what i was asking for, its still on there and i had the cash
oh well i ordered a brand new part online..

Our office posts the ads on CL, and I do try my best to keep up to date on what is getting posted up, but we are not a CL shop. More than half the calls we get on CL parts are flakes or people low balling, and we generally put up alot of used parts as a cheap option for those tight on a budget, some we price normal because they are new, but it's not an area we're sitting there hoping to make a sale on. I wish CL could be our top priority, but it's not. We're here to work on cars, and talk with people in house that enjoy this, so I do apologize if you had interest in a part and that did not work out for you, but if you are serious about buying something, and you know we are selling it, you can always drop in as well. I'm aware you are making the trip down here for our grand reopening, if I recall, you were the one asking for another set of pics of my restored 2g to show the quality of it when you questioned the first set, and I abided, so feel free to chat it up with me and share this experience when you come down :thumb:. Thanks.

i don't know i called about a part and someone said they didn't know, so my reaction was oh, guess they sold it. after ordering my new part i later saw it online! i was bummed because i wanted it. Its ok next time i see something i want i will let YOU know. But as far as your shop ive heard nothing but good reviews so keep it up guys! :thumb:

And yeah see you at the meet cant wait to see the new shop! Even tho i haven't been to the old one, i just recently got into the dsm scene. The blue talon is a great looking car very impressed!

Yeah, sorry that didn't work out and thanks for the feedback. The meet should be a good turn out, NOS energy is going to be coming out, dropping of free NOS, and talking with people :D. This should be a fun meet up for everyone. When you come down, be sure to say what's up if you see me. Just tell me your tuners name, and I'll remember, LOL. Looking forward to seeing you out here.
