I finally after a long week of putting it back together i have hit the dyno and made some pulls. There were defiantly some set backs but it seems to be running good now.

the final was 631.80 hp uncorrected and 495.01 tq @ 20.5 psi

the build is a 2.4 6 bolt

stock 4g64 crank
Delta kelford regrinds 272
ported head
1mm oversized valve
ferrera dual valve springs
custom high compression weisco HD pistons
eagle rods
gt4088r turbo t4 w/88 a/r (i think)

this was all done on e-85.

I will try to add dyno sheets tomorrow

here is a picture of the last pull. This is only about the 10th pull on this new motor. so we have not had a chance to play with timing really at all. it was about 12.5 degrees of timing up top.

Got any pics or videos of this beast? And what compression exactly are the pistons?

I am trying to upload a few pictures as i speak :thumb: .

as for the compression there is a little debate on that... Weisco messed up the order a few times so this is the third set of custom pistons they made for me. that being said they were supposed to be 11:1 but from what i have seen they are a lot higher. I waited almost a year just to finally get this set that would work so i used it any way. the compression tester reads 245 psi across all 4 cylinders with the kelford cams so i guess what ever compression that is??

i hope this build helps the debate over high compression and e-85.

Nice work, do you have a graph with boost I'd love to see how this spools.

For any one doubting the compression here is the block assembled with pistons. :D

sorry i do not have a graph with boost. the dyno is not set up with one. i do have the log files on the aem. If you want just PM me and i can send them. I am trying to upload a video that shows the boost gauge though if that will help a little. :thumb:

here are some pictures of the engine.

I got one of the videos up sorry for the very shaky camera it was a cell phone. this video is the only one i have that shows the boost gauge. it is blurry but you can see it spike 20 psi on this run then tapper to about 16.5-17.0 then spike a little to 18 at the end. this run made 580 ish. we added 2 degrees of timing and a pound of boost to make the 630 hp number. sorry no video of that one.

If you are going to make a video, you can at get a view of my beautiful face. LOL.
congrat.

Killler setup you have there. Look forward to seeing what happens when you turn up the wick!

Kevin

Thank you for the nice comments, I hope to really turn this thing up in the not very distant future. my only concern is that something might be impeding airflow... maybe my intercooler end tanks. further testing will see though.

Damn nice set up, can't wait to see it at 30lbs,

me to but i don't know if it will get there with the current compression. We will see though. It was making 583 @ almost 18psi and went to 630 @ about 20psi. (trying to remember with out checking the logs) so we are picking up about 23-25 hp per pound of boost right now. that would make it a theoretical 830 hp @ 30 psi. which i really don't think can happen. but non the less it should be nice.

What intercooler are you guys running?

I am running the vr speed factory short route. I think it will sustain the power but we will have to cut the cold side endtank and expand it. And then reroute the piping around the core support like a non short route. This is just a thought though there still is no proof that the end tanks are to small. More testing will tell

What size injectors are you running?

They are Bosch 1600 cc

A 4088 turbo isn't a huge turbo. Rich G had one on his car. He had hks 272/272 cams and 7.5 to 1 compression. He still was able to spool that 63mm turbo to 35psi in 3rd gear by 5000-5300. That turbo is known for spooling fast and moving alot of air. I believe it's rated for 80 pounds of air, right? I still think your numbers are awesome, for only 20 psi. How high do you plan to rev the engine?

the compressor map i was looking at on the Garrett website looks like about 70lb min. That being said there are a few people who have made more than 700 hp. I know Tim Zimmer being one of them. As for the boost i will probably not take it past 30 psi. that is a guess though at this point because i will raise it up until the tune becomes unsafe. I am looking to make a little over 700 hp, so far i think i am on track, time will tell though.

if we don't see 30psi this weekend, we are going to stop being your friend. ngoc went to 30psi+, steve went to 30psi, and i went to 30psi. now we need to see you go to 30psi.

your just hating,

Ngoc has a 50 trim on low compression

steve has a 6262 stock housing on low compresion

you have a 35r and....... yeah okay you can talk. a little bit captain boost spike :sneaky:

What rods did you use were they 150mm?

So you had to get Wiseco to custom make some pistons in 87mm or did they carry that size instock?

Sorry for all the questions I'm building a motor using the same block but it isnt staying 2.4l and I'm very impressed by your build. It's very simple and very effective.

Wiseco does carry 87 mm pistons in stock specifically for a 2.4 with a 4g63 head. however if you are not staying 2.4 you will probably have to custom order your pistons because. if you are going destroked you need 4g63 stroker pistons because the pin is moved up for the increase in rod length.

as for the simple part kinda is the best answer i have a lot of work done to the head on my car. as well it took three or four sets of custom piston orders to get the pistons i am using now. it also took over 8 months for wiseco to get them to me correct. and dont forget that proper tuning is the best mod of all and critical to a good motor.
