Always loved your car Paul. I can't wait to see more updates.
What are you going to do for a parking brake now that you've got the staging brake?

I've already removed the factory handle assembly and cables. I still need to gut both rear hubs. I just planned to do without a parking brake from now on. It's going to take me a minute to get used to not having one, but I'll live.

Im also guessing your going with a tial ss vband housing on the gt40 would be smart to.
I'd love to, but Tial is only going to produce the housing for the GT40, and not the GT40r. No ball bearing love. :( I was really bummed out when I found out.

Not a lot of hills where you live I take it?

That's my major concern with doing the staging brake like that, my car sees a lot of street time and I wouldn't want it to pop out of gear and roll. I guess I could block the wheels every time I parked ROFL

Again, keep up the good work man. I feel your pain on not having a garage. If I had one my car would have been done by now.

Not alot of hills at all around here. I don't street drive it often though, so I'm not too worried. I've also never had a tranny pop out of gear either, so I wouldn't worry too much about that either.

Another thing to add to the "to do" list: Tubular rear subframe. And I'll be starting it very soon. :)

Ah, mine still sees a lot of street time.

Can't wait to see more updates from you Paul!

WHy not use maybe a locking pin or even bungee cord on the staging brake.. just something built into the staging brake to hold it parked better or as well as the OEM e-brake could?

i'm building my SB based on the ebrake handle from scratch with a master cylinder i picked up and modded from a bike. But, I'm gonna be reversing the button operation where you have to press the button to lock it - pretty sure i can make it work

It bleeds pressure with time, so it won't work for extended periods. I had considered building some sort of bracket to lock it upward until I found this out.

just use a bungee to hold it tight to theshoulder harness bar or something LOL, pull it tight enough and it'll hold continuing pressure unless the SB's master cylinder bleeds all the way down.. otherwise i guess carry a real wheel chock. A 2x4 might look a little redneck-racer LOL

Still running a composite head gasket? If so, what's your secret to keeping em together?

Yup, I love those things. O-rings, flat surfaces, and properly torqued L19's, and you won't have any issues sealing one either. :)

What about without o-ringing? Will they still hold in excess of 600whp? Are you using a Mitsu gasket or a felpro?

I wouldn't know. I went to an o-ring after 400 whp. I run a Mitsu gasket on this car, but I use the Felpro gasket on everything else.

Any reason why you picked the mitsu over the felpro? Sorry for the dumb questions, just trying to get a good grasp
