I just recently got tires myself and was deciding between these and michelins. Ended up going with the new michelin pilot super sports.

I am between these 2 tires as well. The reviews for the Michelins are very good and I am leaning towards them as being my next summer tire. Let us know how you like them!

You are thinking of directional treaded tires bro. If you have symmetrical, non directional tread you can rotate to the opposite side. Same with asymmetrical as the outside/inside remains the same.

Since I was comparing them to the Star Specs, which are a directional symmetrical tire, I thought this was a given & didn't have to be stated, obviously I was wrong :p

Think I'll probably get 25K out of my XS's (maybe 30 if I really push it). Most of the tire still have lots of tread life left at my current 15K but the inners are showing excessive wear (looks like toe issue) but have had two alignments done with these tires, toe zero'd each time with not a huge amount of camber (-1.5 fronts, -1.25 rears).

I'll probably go XS's, Star Specs or RT-615's again next time. Would be intersted if anyone had direct reviews between these. I've been very happy with the XS's but you always think, maybe such & such a tire will perform better :hmm:

I think Michelin produces probably a really good tire. For a summer tire on the street the Michelin PSS is a great choice, longer tread life and improved grip over the PS2. I believe the Star Spec was cheaper than the Michelin PSS, but that PSS looks really promising.

Well, so far I love them though I have only driven about 10 miles on them. :p I went from stock wheels with generic all seasons to a 235/40/18 PSS on 18x8.5 Volk RE30's. So as you can imagine it was a huge noticeable improvement. Steering response on these is amazing!

Of course you are going to feel the difference! You are moving from a H rated tire with a 400+ treadwear rating (read: fairly stiff/hard) to a W rated tire at 200 wear rating.

Tires can and will make a car feel completely different. The Star Specs are a great tire. Another brand/model I have used for the past two tire changes is the Yokohama S.Drive - not quite as sticky but still great handling and street wear.

:thumb: I agree, I loved my S-Drives and I would get another set but the price of tires have jumped up quite a bit since I bought my last set. I can't afford to drop so much money just for tires that only last a year :ohdamn:

I'm rocking the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec also
235/45/17 on a 7.5" rim with a +40mm
It's a tight fit, but they do fit. Little rubbing when hitting large dips in the road (lowered 1.5")
I don't have many miles on them, but wow, they HANDLE! I haven't really got a chance to test off the line grip as my car is yet to be tuned, but I did hammer it around some curves, and they don't complain one bit. I point my car where I want to go, and it goes there.

I love them so far. I can't wait to really push these fvckers to the limit!

im running the sdrives as well. car isnt a daily driver and is used only to drive to track and autocross.

in aboved mentioned tires all of these are being ran at the local autocross

xs, star specs, rs'3s and s drives

the xs seem to perform better then any of the others but dont last as long and are expensive, next the rs'3s perform very well out here in the desert but i still prefer my s drives. Star specs are right in the midst (maybe bad drivers) but they dont tend to win in the street tires class. i think overall best bang for the $$$$$buck is the s drives. . This will be the only season going on street tires, next year im going to shell out the 1k for street radials.

(this is only a opinion, and is strictly for autocross.)

I just raced on these tires this past weekend at the Brainerd International Raceway for the Chump Car Race that was there. Almost every team was running star specs, and there was a reason for it. The grip from these tires was incredible. Hands down, these are my next set of tires.
