hello everyone, im new to the dsm tuner site, and super happy to have found it!

first off ill say, dsm's are number one in my heart. i was a honda boy, but when i grew up into a man and stepped into a real car (talon), i knew i wasted half my life with the hondas.... that being said, thanks for having me here.

i just recently sold my first talon, it was amazing till i got rear ended. so i was on the hunt for a new one. i ended up with a 1991 talon awd tsi. exact same car as my first. only problem is i am very unfamiliar with these cars, and the one picked up sat for 6 years on blocks. so i did the usual fuel filter, fuel system cleaner, plugs.
it came with a safc 2 that i really dont know how it works. the settings in the safc is what is really got me going. cause i know with the proper settings i can have her running better.

i have a list of upgrades that were done prior to me. the old guy i bought it off of said she was running fine till the oil feed line on the t4 blew, so did the turbo.
so he took it apart and left it for 6 years.
im just hoping someone can help me some what tune her so i can at least drive without hesitations or fuel cuts. if thats the problem? thanks to all in advance.

In the safc2 go to settings and lo throttle high throttle set everything to 0%. That's stock, then go to etc. and go to sensor check and go down to karman.

but my car is not stock, it also has a 190 fuel pump and 550 injectors. im putting a fmic with a boost controller and setting boost to 15-18 psi. but first would love to have running at least.

Oh my bad I forgot um for the 550's You should buy a wideband search up settings people have now then later do a custom tune sorry I couldn't help more. You can try setting everything at zero then go down -5 % on all seee how that works you might be a little lean.

What setup do you have on it now? I mean turbo, etc. Road///Race Engineering Mitsubishi Eclipse Parts and Performance has a little how to concerning SAFCs. Setting the settings on high and low to 0% will help you get initially started. A wideband would be a smart purchase in being it will aid extremely in the tuning.

brand new 14b fmic setup. safc2 550 injectors from a 190 fuel pump

i was on my way home after playing with the % in the safc. it was amazing up until 4100rpms then it would hit a wall as if it had fuel cut?

i input these numbers....low 1k+39, 2k+13, 3k+6, 4k+3, 5k+3, 6k+3, 7k+3, 8k+3....etc
high 1k-10, 2k-10, 3k-10, 4k-10, 5k-3, 6k+8, 7k+8, 8k+8, 9k+8....etc

and she ran better untill around 5000-5200rpm then hits a wall in boost!!

oh and th-point lo 30% high 80%

thanks again eveyone for the replys!!! its already helping. almost there!!!!

This morning the car keeps hitting a wall just before and into boost. I'd say anywhere from 3400-6000 rpms. Any info about safc2 settings would help. Thanks

*update*
ive been seeing alot of different settings for the safc2. so far all of them i have been nonsuccessive in achieving a "some what good tune" . this after noon i set from 4000rpms to 7000rpms some where around -20 to -25 in both lo and hi. i have seem best result from these. before i hurt the car, i was hoping someone could shed some light on the safc2......? these rpm hi and lo settings, what does these +- represent? 1k +25....etc and the ne settings,..... 1k, 2k, 3k? what do these points mean. im not a complete idiot, so if knew what these settings are represent i might have a better chance to be succeed.

I don't have a logger, but have the cable already attached. Looks like a laptop plug in.

Might I add you probably wasted half your life with hondas because you had the wrong one or simply didnt know what u was doin.

so you say, i was just being nice to all the dsm die hards.
i have a 93 hatch with a b16 lsd boosted. so if thats the wrong honda, whats right??
and in my opinion, hondas are the most reliable cars out there.
and no you might not add, didnt your mother tell you, "if you got nothing nice to say, say nothing at all"? my questions are pertaining to a 1991 eagle talon, thanks.

I feel like a man in my talon :). In my d16z6 civic I felt like a CNA but with vtec.

Seriously, playing with the engine map without any means of verifying what you're doing is a *bad* idea, especially with turbo cars.

Put on a wideband and some means to log the data before you blow the engine.

i agree. i have a wideband coming next month, and i have a data cable in the car. just no program to run it from. and the cable looks like a 8-10 prong computer hook up. know where i can get a program to run from laptop?
