My 1g has a 2g coil pack and the tach wont work. Does anyone have a similar mod and know how to fix this?

Try tapping into the power transistor all white wire (pin 4) and connect to your tach input. If you're using the dash tach, you can unplug the tacho interface filter (unique to only a 90) and connect to the single white wire (not the 2 white wires together) on it's harness connector. Can't guarantee this will work but according to the diagrams it's the way to go (if the pulse width, and peak voltage level are compatible).

ok so I was wrong its a92 1g coil pack and it had a broken wire that I have now fixed. However the tach is still unresponsive. I would assume that something behind or on the tach it self is disconnected but I don't know anything about DSM electronics.

Yes, they have some resistor/noise filter, as stated, unique to the '90 year. If you get a 91-94 cluster it will also work.

It's these little quarks that make you either love or hate DSM's ROFL Thanks man I appreciate the help though I'll likely just do some form of third party tach/shift light assembly if those are my only other two options.

So wait... a 90 gauge cluster will only work with a 90 coil pack/noise filter setup, but if I swap the cluster with the coil pack from say, a 94, then everything will work correctly?

This is confusing me.
