Im not sure if im the first to do this, But i did it, machined a 14b housing to fit an evo10 compressor wheel. The specs are approximately 47mm inducer and 68 exducer, so its like a big 16g with a smaller exducer. I machined this on my 1915 lathe. I also included 2 pics of a mitsubishi air conditioner i saw at the cell phone store today and a pic of a few other compressor housings i machined. Just want to ask if anyone else has put an evo10 wheel on a 14b and in a dsm?

OMG......... i have the same lathe......

well done... good machining skills...

We have one of those Mitsubishi air conditioners here that cool down our APC racks in one of our server rooms

The exducer is the same as a big/evo 16g/18g/20g, the inducer is between a small and big 16g. The turbo is technically a TD05HA-152G6-12T.

Did you also machine the CHRA to accept the 68mm exducer? Also, is the evo10 wheel a superback? If it is, did you swap the thrust plate and everything to go with it?

Where did you source the evo10 turbo? Do you still have the turbine housing? I've been trying to find a used one without having to buy the whole turbo.

Here's someone who put an EVO X turbo on an older EVO, not quite the same but a cool concept.

yes. yes. and yes. I build turbos here for fun. Im going to convert That evo 8 turbo to a 20g thats in the floor. Im also going to convert 1 Srt4 turbo to an 18g, they are tdo4LR so converting the turbine to a TDO5HR (evo7 8 9) shaft would be an upgrade, But Neons have the turbine housing made into the manifold so i would have to come up with some wicked plate to hold it for machining.

Phil @ pprperformance, he has great deals on everything mitsubishi. the compressor wheel was 40$. I just paid for the compressor wheels, so i just bought 2.

very cool to see that.

Thats some awesome work

I believe that the evo 10 turbo is a 15g wheel not the 16g that we all use. its also mated with a td05 wheel.

I am working on a manifold design that uses the twin scroll of the evo 10 housing. the only problem I have it finding that housing for the turbo. MHI only sells the evo 10 turbo together and all I need is the hot side. I am mating a 20g, so it will have the flow of a 20g with the spool of a 14b.

Also, I am working on getting a tdo6 wheel in a 6cm housing, for a 20g run on a 6cm housing. Direct bolt on, with stupid fast spool.

I believe Austin bought the compressor wheel only- trust me, I've been looking for a deal on a Evo X turbine housing as well.

Phil Auman....used to be part of Blouch if I do recall.

15G = TD04 wheel. Will not fit a TD05H turbine.

The TD04 15G was used on the Ralliart Evo.
Contact info for PHIL? I need a comp housing for a small 16g I have
I have these. PM for details.
what are the results of the tdo6 20g in a 6cm housing?

If I send you my housing would you be able to machine it?
Let's try to keep this stuff in the PM's so this thread can stay open. No discussion of pricing or individual services / personal transactions in the tech forums.

For what it's worth, the Evo X compressor has the same blade width and hub area as the Evo III compressor....it just has a slightly smaller inducer. There's a very good chance the Evo X wheel would still be 40 lb/min capable on a worthy setup.

So could a damaged E316G compressor housing be machined out for a 18g or 20g wheel?

So this is really possible huh..Have you put it in a dsm yet to confirm it will flow like a 16g but spool like a 14b?
That would be impossible if you're using the 6cm turbine housing from a 14B- that housing will most likely limit you to airflow in the mid-30's with a TD05H turbine.

Yes.

Quick spooling 20g's surge like crazy on a 2.0. On my setup, anything over 20lbs of boost at less than 4000 rpms threatens to explode my turbo, it surges so bad.

^ Right, this is why a 6cm housing on anything larger than a 14B would not be a great idea. Plenty of guys use them on 16G's at low boost- they're great for auto cars, as long as you're not running a ton of boost.

That's why I have two 7cm turbine housings..LOL..

Thats a really good question. I dont know for sure. I do know the guy i sold it to however. Hes from PA and on this forum, ill grab his screen name for you, for the next message so you can ask him 1st hand. I ported the 6cm to gasket match a 7 cm housing.

I have not machined any turbine housings yet, but i will, I just got out of school for the summer so its all play time. I have to make a plate for the hotside to hold it in my lathe. The machine gets easier to use the more i use it. I started out 6 to 8hrs in my 1st housing, and now im down to 2 to 3 hrs. Thats about as good as it gets, until i can upgrade to a cnc lathe or make my lathe cnc or something. Ive been advancing as much as i can.

To Jusmx141, yes its Phil Auman.

I like machine work, im looking for ideas of things to do with my machine while im going to school, for a career wise. Im learning a lot about about machines in college and Im learning hands on while im not at school.

as for this evo10 16g/14b creation, Im make it for fun, Im going to sell it to a member, i will make 1 more however because i bought 2 wheels.

Chris (97gst_spider) It way easier to convert the 16g housings, small or big to an 18g or 20g because i dont have to press a pipe in the inlet.

Heres a picture of a converted 20g in an evo3 housing. The other pics of the evo10 wheel and a big 16g wheel. The thinner blades are the evo10, the measurements .020 thickness for the evo10 and .030 for a 20g wheel. im going to measure a small 16g and see what i can find.
