How would you build the best possible system on my personal car? I'm up for anything. Pre-turbo, post-turbo, or both. I'll run water or meth.

Stock longblock 7-bolt, Hotpiped E316G, AEM 30-3000 with one nozzle 4" after turbo outlet, E85, Speed density, additional basic mods in profile. I'd like to keep the boost at ~25psi.

Thank you :dsm:

I wouldn't, you're already on E85 so you won't see any gains from running Meth. Maybe some of the more experienced members will come in here and give their .02 cents but thats mine! Unless its to cool the charge air temps since you're running hot piped?

Yes, exactly. I see 280º charge temps without injection. That coupled with timing over stock, and 25psi is a knock recipe for my car.

Call English racing. There 10 second 16g auto 1G is running e85 with meth and no intercooler.

Either way give them a call. If they are or were doing that setup they would steer you in the right direction.

Yes, I've spoken to Lucas English in brief. That build was my inspiration.

I'm not biasing the thread with my own ideas, yet.. The point is for the collective knowledge here to design a system from a blank sheet of paper (well, almost) that will operate the most effectively. I figure there's more than enough knowledge here to do so.

I'll have to admit that I see benefits for both water and meth. I understand they both have benefits vs the other.. What I don't fully understand the entire system as a whole to the point I can feel confident in building it. I understand my setup is a bit unorthodox, and it's fine if nobody has any advice. I'm down to test pre and post combinations with water and meth, and I'll be happy to share the results.

I'd like to see the results since most shops that run hot pipe setups, ER for example, don't really post their "secrets" since thats how they make the big bucks. I can't blame them though, thats how they put food on their table... Hopefully someone on here can add some insite as well.

280* charge temps are knock soup! I was going to link you to a thread I was reading on ECMLink but you had posted in it already, which was in March last year. It seems you may have changed your plans over the last year? :hmm:

I'm posting my results, sure. :)

A thread you were reading on tuners? You mean here? Besides a local forum, I'm also on the ECMlink forums.

If it was a street-car thread, my car is still a street car. If it's a road-race thread, I'm still roadracing it. Link the thread??

But yeah my plans always change :p

Critique this:

100% water, one 1gph nozzle pre-turbo and either a 5gph or 10gph nozzle post-turbo. (setup in profile).

FYI:
1gph = 62cc
5gph = 315cc
10gph = 630cc

Questions:
-Meth instead of water (with 3x the volume)?
-50/50?
-W/I activation >10psi given charge temps will be > 212º?

Notes: 25psi, aggressive timing map based on 2G map. Street and 1/4 use only. No sustained use.

*testing begins about three weeks from now.

Pre turbo you would want if at all possible to run 100% meth or at least a 50/50. Water doesn't vaporize as meth does and can cause problems to the compressor blade if drops are introduced. Also for a pre turbo nozzle you want to run a solenoid instead of a check valve due to the leak outs that check valves cause when the pressure slowly drops away closing the valve.

Does this still hold true when the nozzle is aimed at the center of the compressor, and is positioned very close?

I've read so much "meth vs water" I can't keep it all straight. But really, the whole concept of pre-turbo injection tells me water will provide superior results there.

If indeed, meth is just as capable pre-turbo as water, then to me it's a no-brainer to run 100% meth pre and post. I'll need a big tank :D

Water can work pre turbo but you had a higher chance for compressor damage over methanol. The water will cool much better which is what you want but again, you take the risk of large drops hitting the compressor spinning at 25k+ RPMs.

Both will provide the quicker spool that is ascioated with pre turbo injection. However I do suggest you goto some other methanol based forums for more information for your decision. DevilsOwn forum has good info on it.

I would still recomend running a 50/50 mix of water methanol. I would run 1 pump and Y it off and run one nozzle right after the compressor and then put the other nozzle near the tb.

You can still run meth on a car running E. Meth does help solve some of the issues of E cars .
