A big part of my Passion for cars is I love going fast and or making a fast car. mainly in turns, while alot of DSMer's when it comes to Racing of any sort its usually in a straight line. I'm more of a road course, AutoX, mountain roads kind of guy...

Anyways.

(preparing self for hardcore flaming.)

my other side of passion, is, the whole clean and low, hella flush, roof rack, do weird but awesome things, etc. kind of car scene. show cars, but the good ones.

I mean Frontwheel Drive, non turbo 7 bolt talon isn't really all that great for track anyways :p

Lowerd, Rims, Great paint and a wax, done. and often some sort of goofy charm (roof rack, keg, funny drift charm, absurd shift knobs like guitars, and gun barrels etc.) I love stance basically. if anyone knows what I mean by that. and no one really does DSM's (That I've seen) so I really want to do it with mine since overall my Talon is pretty great shape. (getting Waxed and detailed once this nasty weather season is over with. it will really shine!)

I don't own one with these "stance" upgrades but I can sorta agree. On a DSM, IMO, if there's small camber and all that, it's fine but just over-done is just ridiculous. There was another thread about DSM's being hella flush and some was just taken out of perspective and overdone. On some cars, it looks amazing. Others, not so much.

1. What the hell does a roof rack have to do with anything other than transportation of sport/camping equipment?

2. Unless you are drag racing then you shouldn't be blowing out small tires to fit wide rims. The reason why it was done on old muscle cars is because they were limited to tire size on the track. By expanding a smaller tire they gained more contact patch allowing for more traction. This was for straight line.

There is a Honda at the garage I go to that has exploded out tires and I laugh every time I see it.

I can agree, one of the guys that hangs out alot with the Track. One Crew (local tuning shop here LOOK FOR THEM ON Horsepower TV on spike or speed or whichever it is!) aaron hes super fan boy status with his 240, extremely rediculously low, and has stretched tires that looks like the bead would brake if you took a turn to hard, and had serious heat rings appearing on the tire, I think he was running 205's on a 245 Rim. whatever it was it was way to much and he was way over his head, he did drift with out incident but still it was stupid, and the fenders even tho they were rolled still were rubbing on the tires and that would make me feel uncomfortable...anyways...

I still wanna see some of this on DSM's... Like i never see any real low 1G DSM's and I think 1G's especially look sick as hell real low. Seen a few sitting on coil overs, its sick...

But I don't believe in low that sacrifices drive ability (unless you have bags :D ) I like going over speed bumps. with out getting stuck. what fun is having a nice looking car if it don't go no where?

Like i said its pretty much all for show, and is all about personal satisfaction (at least for most people it is and that's how it should be) and some people actually use those roof racks for their intended purposes.

and I'm not a fan of streched tires tho, because whats the point of getting wide rims of your just gonna lower the contact surface by stretching your tires?

I agree with the EVO X being the only one that looks good.

I have EVO IX wheels and Eibach Sportlines about to go on, I have the pro kit on there now. I don't like the wheel gap but I don't want it to rub either, I also want it to be functional. Just like the EVO I want to do it right and get the same look.

Being from both sides of the spectrum....(My cressida, my AE86, etc...)
I understand what you mean by stance.. (I actually wanted some Stance coilovers :p)
Anyways, I feel you on the roof rack thing :D my buddy is putting one on his colt that'll be 4g swapped soon.
I've learned to just keep quiet about my "hellaflush" love. This website is not open minded about these sort of things, and it is a mainly performance based website.

However, it's quite apparent how it's a double sided blade. If I post I have a Talon on any of my Drifting forums or w/e, I get flamed. They say "sick mud runner bro" or "do you have a mullet to go with that hick car".

I'd like to see equal respect from both forums, so by not being open minded, we're acting just like them.

Just my 2 cents, I keep my drift love on the other sites.

You can be real low and still be functional, if not be more functional. you just have to adjust other suspension components as well.

Tire rub is full of fail tho, but that's what rolling fenders is for LOL, I don't think I'd have the fender's rolled on my talon tho.

I can only go so low with that giant downpipe on!

Ive never seen tires like that that looks ridiculous. I think anything that spends most of its time in a garage or on a trailer isnt impressive

Wider tires dont change how large a tires contact patch is.

This 'car-licking-asphalt' look has never been something I like. I'm all about dropping large sums of money on cars, but if it's not going to be for function, what's the point?

I get it, it's all about 'styling your whip', but cars were meant to go. If you're going to decorate something meant to be mobile like a car and therefore turn it into a show piece, then why not "pimp-out" your desk or your front door?

To me there's no difference between the econoboxes with wings and body kits and the cars above. Both are full of form and no function. Just my opinion of course. If you like 'em, that's what's important.

You sir are my new best friend LOL and from Wisconsin too (born and raised in Fort Atkinson\Janesville area)

yeah I didn't expect to many people to be for it, but I was bored and felt like posting something about something and wanted to see if any DSM-ers out there had similar intrests obviously not....

I guess my next thing to bring up is this un dying lust to run a AWD DSM as a RWD DSM and drift it hahahahaha.

Car scene around here is all Big turbo Diesel Trucks, Ricer Burners, Drifting, and Stance.

EDIT: and some cars with amazing "Stance" around here often are quite the track monster's.

I love the drift scene, but I could never own a RWD car. I would get in to much trouble. I want a 240 but don't need another car. So all I can do is go to the events and help buddies out with their cars. My wifes uncle owna a firestone, so I know I can use the used tires and then just throw them back in the bin after I'm done. but I'm addicted to the AWD.

Hey, it was worth a shot. I don't think people on here are so much opposed, as it just isn't their priority when they go to drop a large amount of money on their car.

Some of those cars are probably bagged, that's why you see that extreme negative camber. They drop them to the ground just for show... But I seen a few that drive them like that, sparks flying everywhere. It's cool I guess, for those that don't pay tax to fix the roads.

yeah true.... idk I just like doing what makes me go damn thats epic.....

I love the idea of opening my garage and going, damn that looks sick, as shes sitting there all nice and low and mean lookin.

I also love the feel of a car that pulls hard, which then makes me get into a bad habit of doing it off the track which leads to tickets because there aren't enough track evens around here, plus there's always the chance of blowing shit up and what not LOL, so its a safe alternative for getting my car fix.

of course...I have interests in all area's of cars other then ugly big chrome rims, and ricers, and retards who think they have million hp honda's and go do burnouts in parking lots and almost hit people.

not a big fan of rediculous\non functional camber either. I just like low part because everything looks sick when its low to me.

I hate mexipoke too. (when the wheels stick outside fenders alot) a tiny bit is ok but for the most part no....

@ OP, don't even bother posting something like this on tuners, anything that isnt 1000% functional is considered rice and dumb here. The irony is that a lot of members here have nonfunctional cars (even as far as it starting up and driving normally goes) so to diss cars that at least run most of the time (despite them not being 100% functional) is kind of silly.

I think that statement is not all that true.

the majority of this site is performance based, but they do have an appearance section, and its the hangout, its specifically made for discussions such as this.

and everyone loves a good looking car, just what is good looking changes from person to person.

Personally as far as looks go I've always been the "Rims, Tint, Lowered, Wash N' Wax, Done" kind of guy, but when I lower cars I like low low...mostly I just hate wheel gap, or just sitting high in what's suppose to be a sports minded car.

^ Thats all I want, is to get rid of the wheel gap with my 17's. Get the tire right at the edge of the fender but not make it rub.

RWD DSM Drifting = Epic

I had a pic of a maroon/purplish 1gb on the ground but something funky happened to my computer and I lost all of my pictures. It looked ok.

From what I can tell, the OP would be interested in the VW / Audi scene.
