Alright im thinking about buying a turbo kit off ebay. I no its not the best but its all i can afford and i just need your help about this. If i buy this kit what else would i have to buy to make it a full kit so i can take it to a shop and let them put it on. I no it wont fit perfect and they will have to do modifications but what else do i need that this kit dont have. The link is below and thanks alot. Also if you have any recomendations for the parts i need and they are cheap then let me hear what kind or a site i can look at them on. Thank you

95 96 97 98 99 ECLIPSE 420A TD05 16G TURBO KIT SET UP - eBay (item 120450450833 end time Jan-11-11 19:39:04 PST)

how hard is it to do it yourself. i was never sure of how to install it. and i am on a tight budget so do you have a link to a site with a turbo kit under 1000 dollars. if so that would be awesome.

im not as proficient with turbos as many others on here, but the general concensus, is that piecing your own system together gets you the best deal. use that fancy search button at the top on turboing the 420a. lots of articles on it and just start reading....more information in this forum than you'll get in this single thread.

1. Intercooler ???
how well built, welds hold up (adverage psi 10 to 25)
mounting brackets and ese of installation
2. piping
do you have to cut to make fit
3. Heart , Center and Meat of your MONEY= Turbocharger
I have heard of CHEEP imitation turbos out there
I would not want mine to turn into an under the hood hand gernade or do a self melt down. I have seen prices at 250 to 300 and they leave a question
Just remember on ebay you sometimes get what you pay for:banghead:
I did what Krackit said piecing it together, puting the bulk of money in a trusted turbo
I don't know if its a bad rap or not but some people have had bad luck with the chinese imitation turbo's

rollingstone. he is on a 420a...so that means headers, downpipe, turbo, intercooler, tapping for oil to the turbo, AFR gage, intercooler, piping, some sort of tuning equipment such as dsmlink or somethin else...but make sure your engine is running good before slapping a turbo on it. our engines are really tough, but without touching injectors, fuel pump or bottom end, you could be askin for problems. someone correct me if im wrong, but i wouldn't go above 8psi on a stock setup.

again...search button....i've said it 3 times now. i'll hit you wish a fish if i have to do it again.

You're going to need a exhaust manifold, 02 housing and exhaust from there back. You will need a fuel system including fuel pump and injectors. You'll need something to tune with along with a wideband.

Is this your only car? This kit really will become a ticking time bomb with all of the cheap knockoff parts included (mainly the turbo). You're best bet is to do a ton of research and piece together the kit yourself. Do some searches here as well as 2GNT.com - home .

You should first make sure you're car is in solid running condition as far as fluids, timing belt, compression, etc.

If you choose this kit, realize the costs are going to go far beyond the initial purchase price and you will not have a very reliable car. You get what you pay for.

i gave you a link for a good kit, i have it on my car. except for the garbage turbo. sold that to a honduh noob. Your best bet is to honestly piece something together. If you dont know what you need there are an abundance of threads asking this same question. Or PM me, and i'll help you out when i can. Look in the part out sections, you can get quality parts cheap.

fuel system is not mandatory for small psi. i forget the exact number, but our injectors are good for a decent amount of boost.

step 1- sell your car
step 2- use the money from your car plus the 1k you have to buy a gst/gsx

this is why, in order to turbo a 420a you will need the following items at LEAST. then some

turbo(depending on what you want, a 14b or a t25 will run you 150$ at most)
intercooler (stock smics can be had for next to nothing, fmics start around 350$)
injectors (depends on your turbo, anywhere from 100$-250$)
exhaust manifold (really don't know the price, but you get what you pay for)
something to log with (palm, plus cables and all that, 50$-80$)
something to tune with (safc 200$)
and a wideband (200$)
all total you're looking at around 800$ with just that, you'll also need to modify your exhaust some, then theres all the cutting and fabbing for the actual install (not that bad really) then you have to pay someone to tune it for you (since you aren't sure how to install it, i'm assuming you won't know how to tune it)
then theres the fact that its a 420a so it'll still be slow.

-side note, 420aT guys don't hate me, those of you with fast ones i'm not talking shit, but I have yet to see a fast 420a that didn't have an almost absurd amount of money in it

I dont know any 420A guys running an 02 housing...im not. You dont need injectors if youre running 7-8 lbs which is about what you'll be able to do. There is no real tuning involved, unless you consider a FMU tuning...

Just based on the turbo provided in the kit, I figured an 02 housing would be simplest and cheapest in order to adapt a downpipe to.

Good to know about the fuel system, I wasn't aware the stock 420a pump and injectors could handle a small amount of boost.

I did a little searching, so here is your spoon feeding for the day.
Read the pdf file Adam has made.

the 420a pump can do it, but a Walbro 255hp pump is recommended. I have the stock pump in my car and it runs lean in the higher rpms. I didn't have away to control the pressure from the pump and was getting overrun on idle so its in the box awaiting the install of my Aeromotive A1000.

I have seen people running 4 psi with no fuel. I wouldn't reccomend it but its been done. You can make a turbo kit for cheap. There's a thread on here somewhere. Has lots of good info.

The pistons and rods are the only weak parts about the 420A, the head can handle turbo. I'm debating this myself, I just hate the fact that I can't use DSMlink. I'm not so sure about MegaSquirt, seems like more hassle. For the engine, replace the rods, bearings, LC pistons, rings with anything but stock such as Eagle, get a cometic head gasket and buy a used 16G or find a T28. It would be fine with say 15PSI. Bigger turbo means less PSI means better for your non-turbo engine.

All the other advice here should be followed.

I read somewhere that injectors from a 96 mustang GT fit our cars, they have flow rates in the CC300s (I think)

Wouldn't it be easier and little cheaper to look for some stock turbo parts from a 4g63t?

There are so many garbage posts in this thread it is rediculous. I wish someone would delete all the ones with all the misinformation in them. Here is a list of what you would need minimum for 4 psi safely with no real tuning devices:

turbo with wastegate and 4 psi spring in it
manifold
downpipe
charge piping from turbo to throttle body
oil feed and return lines
tee fittings to install oil feed on back of block where oil pressure switch is
*rising rate fuel pressure regulator* (since you don't have a fuel return line, you could go this route.. 2GNT.com - SFMU)
high pressure fuel pump
blow off valve
fuel cut defender
boost gauge
wideband o2 guage would be great but not needed
fittings for attaching oil return line to oil pan
oil pan gasket (you will need to remove it in order to drill and properly attach fittings)
pipe and air filter for turbo
t-bolt hose clamps
hose couplers
vacuum line to run to the sfmu and bov

That should pretty much be it.
