I have most of the mods done for the stage 1 upgrade sequence on this site. The only ones I need are intake and larger fuel pump.

Right now I have an Exedy OEM clutch kit. I know this isn't going to hold much power if i start turning up my boost. Would just upgrading either the pressure plate or clutch disc (not sure which one would be better to upgrade) be able to handle around 250 whp? I don't plan on going much higher in power.

Get an act 2100 lb kit. One was on my car for about 20k miles and I took it off in perfect condition still. A clutch is a pain to install so when you do it make sure you do it right.

well depending on how you drive your car is going to depend on the longivity of the clutch. I would think that at 250 hp I would replace both just to do so. Stock should be just fine if your not lighting up the clutch constantly.:thumb:

Alright thanks for the advice, if its on the edge of not being a good idea I don't want to take the chance

If you are already going to be in there and having pulled out the transmission..

You mind as well, get a Clutch Kit.. Save your self Time and Money..

No sense in going in and just replacing the Disc or Pressure Plate

Extremepsi Usually has the best prices for kits.. Although there were plenty of vendors who had good deals on Black Friday...

My recomendation would be a ACT 2100 w. ACT Flywheel.. Resurfacing the factory or whats in there now usually doesn t work to well.. in my experience..

if your tight on money or on a budget get the act 2100 pp. I have a an act 2100 pp with stock clutch disk from autozone and a mitsu throw out bearing. I couldnt be happier with this set up. I have a stock gst as well and i can only feel the difference in the pedal pressure when i jump from my gst to my gsx. Im about 300 miles in on my break in and ill jump on her once in a while now, still down shifting and going easy when normal driving to break her in right ( i dont want to do it again LOL ) shes holding all of the 15psi in a 3rd gear pull with no issues or slip

From the reading that im doing, the PP is the key. If you dont plan on dragging the car or launching it 5 times in a row then the stock disk will be fine. the act 2100 pp will take 320 tq if i remember correctly and if your goals are 250hsp then this set up will even give you room to grow. if you have a fwd then the clutch kit will take even more abuse because of the lack of the awd weight and tq.

oh and i resurfaced my flywheel, had the step double checked as well and im having no issues at all

That's what I found as well. The Exedy clutch that's in now only has about 1500 miles on it so I don't want to get rid of it if i don't have to.

When my old clutch blew I needed to get it back on the road ASAP and couldn't get a nice one at the time.

I disagree, there will be more stress on an AWD clutch than a FWD. To put it simply, a FWD is more likely to break the tires loose before the clutch slips.

Resurfacing the flywheel is fine as long as its not warped. Just make sure to have it stepped correctly. Stock I believe is .612", correct me if I'm wrong on that one.

So what do you need to get, or want to get.

Right now my boost is at 13lbs. My oem clutch holds fine. I'm going to turn my boost up as much as I can(safely) on 450's after I get a new fuel pump. I just want a little more holding power when I turn up my boost.

I wouldnt worry too much, boost and clutch power depends on how you drive your car, your trans may hold up it may not we cant tell you, that, dont get parts for the clutch get a kit, either way its a easy fix to change the clutch, do you have mods to turn up boost, wideband, tuning device? no blinky light, did yoiu look at the upgrade path for dsms its in the tech section. if your unsure upgrade the clutch set up, oem may be fine for now but it is oem it wasnt designed for a lot more power but you will just have to see, time will tell.

Yah I have everything on the upgrade path except intake and fuel pump, which I'm getting soon. I have a wideband and an SAFC i'm going to use. I figured I was just going to order the pump and PP/or clutch kit all at once.

your correct, thats what i ment to convey, awd puts more stress on the clutch, fwd, the tires will just break lose

.612, .610 between those two ,, look it up but for a slightly more then stock set up i think its .612 is what they recomend

The stock part should be able to hold 250whp just fine, but sure upgrading it a step higher such as the 2100 would be better..
