I was searching and couldn't find anything on this swap that I can use I was looking for the parts I need for the swap. I'm getting the fwd 5speed over the weekend. What else do I need and where can I find a step by step on how to do this.

So far, I found out I need clutch/flywheel, shiftercable/shifter master and slave cylinder, pedal clutch line new speed sensor new tranny bracket also left mount 5 speed sci and gauge cluster. Am I missing anything and also where can I find the shifter that's the hardest for me right now.

My transmission is shot. And I can't find another automatic transmission, all I find is 5speed.

That's a hard swap to do...takes lots of time. But here is a vfaq on it

Visual Frequently Answered Questions - Home Page

It has all the parts youre gonna need to do the swap. Shouldn't be much different then the 2g until you have to put in the shifter in the car.

I'd also check out dsm graveyard for parts, real cheap. Or the classifieds section.

Thanks for the link. Yea, I know its kind if hard. I'm going to take my time. I plan on swapping the tranny and then mod the car little by little over the next two to three months

Does anyone know where I can get the shifter assembly online?

How are A/T faster?

they dont break, or shouldn't. less wheel hop, wheel hop kills 5 speeds. there are so may issues with 5 speeds. there is so many ways they break. you hold boost when you shift. and you have less wheel spin.

Yet people have run 10's on stock Auto trannys

Stock for stock the manual is faster, unless driver does not know how to drive. If this is a street car, which I would assume this is, then I would rather have a manual. The swap is NOT HARD TO DO, as its only a few extra hours of work on top of a regular trans drop and re-install job. Seriously I don't understand why people insist that it is so hard to do. The only "difficult" part there is cutting a hole for the master cylinder(which is easy with a dremel) and pulling out the pilot bushing in the crank(which is also easy if you have a slide hammer).

Ummm ok....Stock for stock? because everyone here has a Stock car right? besides as far as 1g's are concerned let take two cars with different size turbos and injectors and compare them?

Ya I agree a street car is more enjoyable to drive with a 5spd but you didn't say that to begain with... . Take two modded dsm's with the same mods and their isn't any reson the auto could go as fast or faster down the 1320...

Anyway,
Back on topic people!

I should have been more clear, I was comparing a 2g FWD. I should know I also swapped two 2g FWD's auto to manual.

I was on topic, I even went through the most "difficult" parts of the swap.
I believe you were the one that went off topic. I also corrected a few spelling mistakes of yours:aha:.

Stay with A/T, get roadsurge box, save money, and buy performance parts.

Regardless I have to get a transmission because the one I have is no good. And by the way it's more of a street car than strip.

this is not a hard swap to do... just time consuming.
