pushing a ton of oil..

whenever i get into boost i pushoil out of every hole possible.. brand new pcv valve in and i have it run to a catch can, the breather on the side of the valve cover just has a breather filter on it so now neither of those push oil but my oil cap DUMPS oil from the center where the screw is and from the seal, also my oil dipstick tube will spray oil under boost, why am i building so much pressure

heres the mods list

Engine- head studs, BC 272 cams, rest is stock

Turbo/Intake- EVO3 16g unported, big FMIC 2.5 inch piping, GM maf with MAFT, tial knockoff vented

Exhaust- 2g mani and o2 housing unported, apexi N1 downpipe/cat delete , to 2.5" piping with dynomax straight through muffler

Trans/Clutch- ACT 2600 rest is stock

Fuel- Walboro 255 rewired, AFPR, 93 oct pump gas

Tuning- SAFC 2

running 8psi creeping to 15

I was pushing oil like that for a little while. Eventually I pushed it out the valve cover and onto the t-belt. 13 bent valves later....

when I pulled the pistons all 4 2nd compression rings were stuck on 1 side of the piston.

My compression test revealed 170PSI across the board right before it blew up also. So dont take the compression test as "Compression is good, so the motors fine"

thanks for the info, luckily its not that bad (it doesnt push from the valvecover seal) just from the oil cap and pcv, so i shouldnt be getting any on my tbelt. i also check it everytime i turn the car off and soak it up so it never has a chance to fill the valve cover or anything that extreme

im guna try and grab a new oil cap tomorow from mitsubishi if they have one
 
You can try running your PCV like stock, and getting rid of the catch can. Sometimes they are a bit restrictive and will cause those issues.

That wouldn't do anything because the PCV system isn't doing anything under boost.


OP - is your new PCV valve OEM or a generic parts store replacement? Was it doing it prior to replaceing that PCV valve?
 
Valve may not be the problem but the rest of the PCV system could be clogged. Can you blow through the valve on both sides? If you can it is bad. You should only be able to blow through one side of the valve. My car did this all the time, until I did a little engine work and pulled the intake manifold off and pressure washed it. It looks very easy for those tiny ports inside the IM to get clogged. That's what fixed my problem I think.

Yes it would, especially replacing the little air filter on the side of the valve cover and putting a vac line back to the intake...
 
My car is doing the same thing but I'm also getting oil in the compressor cover? I had a new gt3076r and sold it and put a fp3065 and I have oil there too? So I was thinking it's blow by. Any ideas please

How do you know he doesn't have the hose still attached to the intake manifold? I assumed the catch can was inline between the PCV and intake manifold. In which case, the PCV valve is closed and doing nothing under boost. So, eliminating the catch can there wouldn't do anything for a problem that occurs under boost.


sexystover - We need a better description of your current crankcase evactuation configuration. Can you post a pic?
 
side vent is open to atmosphere, pcv is run to a catch can and thats it, i have the line on the intake manifold plugged, previously i had no pcv (just an open hole) , then i put in an autozone one plummed to the intake (caused tons of oil on valvecover) then i kept the same pcv but ran it to the catch can (caused "blowby" ..meaning smoke out of pcv valve and oil cap) , now i have a mitsubishi one and a new oil cap so we will see if this one fixes the problem. im still running the mitsubishi one to a catch can and have the intake line blocked




also did the compression test today 80-psi first puff and 155-160 on all cylinders

Without a vacuum source the pcv is not going to open enough to vent the blow-by. I'd replace it with a pipe nipple, then run it to the catch can.
 
catch can isnt sealed, it has a vent on it, and my problem is when i was under boost it would force the pcv shut and build pressure in the crankcase,thats why i am not routing it to the intake

That is what's supposed to happen...

Is your dipstick popping out at all?
 
i have no intake.. just a screen on the turbo so that makes it impossible for me to set it up as its described
 
Then this is the best way to set yours up (using an OEM PCV valve):

ok but how can the crankcase relieve pressure through the pcv if i have 20+ psi of boost pressure in the intake manifold?

set up the pcv system as u drew it, havnt really driven it but i found my leak ontop of the VC is from two of the inner bolts so i put a dab of RTV around the bolts in the holes to seal them up, ill find out tonight if it worked or if i need a new VC gasket


UPDATE, having the pcv hooked up as u drew it 99gst made the crankcase pressure worse so it back to how i had it

UPDATE X2, well i guess ill see if my VC had a crack because i just snapped it from one bolthole to another after redoing the VC seal while i was tightening it down so my buddy is bringing me a spare he had

UPDATEx3, well new VC doesnt leak like old one did and bolts are torqued to spec so i guess the old one was already cracked. no more leaks
